Which Are The Best Passports To Have?

Of the many passports you can apply for, there are some that are better suited for travel which avoids mandatory visa applications.

When looking to renew passport for travel, keep in mind that your current passport requirements may differ for the countries you intend to travel to.

Luxembourg passport holders can experience visa-free access to 172 countries around the world. However, Luxembourg passport holders are subject to visa-on-arrival access in countries such as India, while Danish passport holders are not.

Denmark
Passports in Denmark have visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 172 countries as well, including most of Europe and the Americas. Since Denmark is one of the richest countries on earth, their passport holders also enjoy unrestricted access to Europe’s borderless Schengen area.

These policies were called into question in 2011 when the Danish government proposed regulating travel around its borders to keep out “illegal immigrants and organized crime”.

The EU recoiled at the proposal, which a newly elected Danish government also canceled later that year.

The United Kingdom passports have been believed to be among the most valuable passports in the world, with 173 countries allowing visa-free access.

According to the Henley survey, the UK passport is on par with the winner of a three-way tie. However unlike Denmark, the UK is not a member of Europe’s Schengen area, which means British travelers must show their passport when entering mainland Europe.

UK citizens must also attain a visa-on-arrival for several eastern European nations, something some other passports on this list don’t necessitate.

Sweden
All Nordic countries enjoy outstanding visa-free travel options to almost anywhere in the world. With 173 countries open for visa-free travel, having a Swedish passport can be convenient for travelers due to its excellent reputation.

Unfortunately, Swedish passport holders are not able to travel to India visa-free, and they also enjoy less visa-free options than holders of the #1 passport do in both Africa and Southeast Asia.

Topping off the list is the Finland passport. It has been deemed the world’s most valuable passport for travel. It offers visa-free travel to 173 countries, which includes some virtually no other passport does.

While in a three-way tie with Sweden and the United Kingdom, Finland’s passport offers more frequently used visa-free travel options, including travel to India. With the Finnish passport, travelers can experience visa-free access to Vietnam, a notoriously difficult country to enter.
