Buntong Fried Noodles And Other Ipoh Treasures For Dinner

FOR DINNER I TOOK MY FRIENDS TO BUNTONG FRIED NOODLES along Osborne Street... we reached there around 7pm and the place was almost crowded as usual... I heard that the quality has gone down but then it did not deter the crowd... so I guess what I heard was proven wrong... Once famous always famous, this is Ipoh...

We ordered a few dishes and they turned out pretty alright... none to perfection but then I am not that picky when it comes to chinese food... call me bias!

The mihoon is still very tasty and "heong".... RM12
not easy to fry the fine noodles while keeping them intact...
Koay Teow in gravy is their signature dish... RM12
One of my friends commented that the lard taste was not there anymore...
Maybe they don't use lard anymore...
Well, no lard means not so unhealthy in a way :)

For side dishes, we ordered 10 fish balls....
Ate up 6 then only I remember to take a picture!
It cost RM1.20 for each and though it is pricey, the quality is there...

Steamed cuttlefish...

Each bite we took, the "cholesterol-ness" pitted out...
That was how my friend expressed...
hahahaha...
That really discouraged us from finishing them all...

Some kind of small chicken...
That is most well-explained...
Too sweet for our liking..
We preferred it to be gingerly seasoned than honeyed...
For the above two dishes, it cost RM39
That was our dinner for four.....
One of us in the midst of food enjoyment..
And two of us from the Empat Sekawan....
Apart from the food, it is the good company that really counts...

  1. Have been there a few times, we still like the noodles. The fish balls very good. Have not tried the cuttlefish nor the deep fried chicken yet. Good company is the most important.

  2. I love all the dishes you ordered here, Claire. Everything is what I love to eat. I am a Hakka and being Hakka, I love my bihun. That fried mihun is my cup of tea. I just had one last Sunday and I love the way they fry it without been too soft or broken into pieces.

That steamed cuttlefish is worth to die for. Think of cholesterol after the meal. Hehe. Yummy spring chicken.

  3. Yes, my bihun all pecah pecah one especially using the finer Thai ones - the China ones are harder, will not break so easily. Never mind, can just use spoon to eat, no need for chopsticks. Hehehehehe!!!!

Aiyor...ordered sotong, did not dare to eat, could not finish!!! So sayang lah... I would tapao...and eat a bit each day over the next few days!

  8. That koay teow gravy, if they don't use lard anymore it means they screw up lah! No justifying it by talking about healthiness. Healthy food can be had at home! :D
