Enriched With Simple Homecooked Food

I HAVE LOST SOME POUNDS... not as in sterling but in weight.. hehehe...  Been losing some weight on the 24th November due to lack of appetite for at least a week.  During that time,  I have been taking some plain porridge and oats and I only got back my appetite after I "healed" myself by boiling some ginger and red dates for a few days.

Chinese will say it is "cold" in the stomach so to give "warmth" back to it, I was advised to drink more ginger water with honey and red dates... and that actually helps!  During the one week, I lost some weight, my tummy was almost "flat" and my rounded face was actually not so round then... hahahaa...  Oh well....

Now that my appetite is back, there is no turning back on food... and more healthy food.... that is why I am so hardworking these days.... cooking my own dinner!

I bought a quarter slice of pumpkin and a bitter gourd...
And ended up slicing them up and joining them together to make a dish.....
To take away the bitterness of the bitter gourd, I soaked it with salt water for a few minutes....
Yes, they were not as bitter and it blended well with the sweetness of the pumpkin....
Sliced a big onion and added some dried prawns for taste....
As for the meat patties, it was quite a failure...
Too soft... maybe I didn't add enough cornflour?
My ex-colleague gave me a tub of sambal dried prawns... *Hae Bee*
So nice of her!!!
That was my dinner.... for two.....
Now with my appetite, nothing seems to be left behind anymore.....
Fully Satisfied...
*pat tummy*

  1. i always wonder how to make the bittergourd not bitter like those bittergourd beehoon sold in stalls.. hmmm, the trick is to soak them in salt water for a few minutes huh?? now i get it..

BTW, bittergourd and pumpkin, i want to say this is a very auspicious dish leh.. you know what they are called in Cantonese right?? so with both of them together, they make the name "Foo Chun Kam Loi" meaning that all the bitterness and hardship are gone, now you are harvesting the sweet and happy results :)
