Teochew Porridge In Pasir Puteh

COME MONDAY MORNING...

I overslept!  Supposedly to go out for breakfast with my friend around 9.30am instead of 10.30am by the time I got ready.  A thousand apologies to my friend who was patiently waiting for my whatsapp message, she is smart, she has taken a light breakfast first and mine was the second meal of the day... hahahahaa....

By the time we reached Pasir Puteh, it was almost 11am... time for brunch instead of breakfast and we had a light one at a corner shop where every dish was still fresh and warm.  But I didn't feel like taking economy rice but porridge instead... and these were my humble choices....

While porridge with three condiments.... RM7.60

Preserved radish aka "choy poe" ... Not sure I got it right....
Fresh peanuts with crispy anchovies...
Softened Mui Choy....
Sai Mai Loe... mixed fruits....
That was our simple brunch....
And after our meal, we proceeded to visit a friend who is not feeling well...
Spend a couple of hours there...
And collected some pots of flowers from another friend on the way back....
Oh, I am not a flower lover and know nothing about gardening...
But I know someone is Really Happy to bring home these lovelies back to her garden of Eden...

  1. I love Teochew porridge but I will always order this and that, everything I would want...and it can get quite expensive at times. Hah!!! For a while, I thought you've gone into gardening - lots of time after retirement. They look nice...but give to me, will guarantee all die one! :D

  5. Ha ha...looks like our friends know who is the new proud owner of the beautiful plants. Oh Claire, I am feeling so blessed. I was expecting 2 pots of flowers but when I took them out of the boxes, there were 4 pots of different colours. Thank you and your friend so much for the flowers. I hope I know how to care for them. Bless you and your friend for these lovelies!

  9. That peanuts and ikan bilis... the ratio is wrong between the two. Too much peanuts and too little anchovies!

  10. I am also a Teochew and believe me that I love good porridge very much.
I was sick last night and woke up hungry near midnight, craving for porridge.
So I ended up going to McD for the only available porridge at 11:45pm!
Next time, I should ta bao home and add all the ingredients in your photos!
