Feeling Heavy At Lorong Selamat, Penang

AFTER OUR CHURCH SERVICE ON SUNDAY, my girl suggested having our lunch at Lorong Selamat... It had been a couple of years since we last went there for food. We do not like to "clash" with the crowd and I was expecting the place would be crowded especially on a Sunday. But to our astonishment, there was no jam at all and no crowd too along the road.  It was a Sunday lunch hour... hmmmm... I wonder why....
Maybe it was not a working day... and we could easily get our seats....
Oh, maybe it is an off-peak weekend, not many tourists too...
The food we ordered were served in no time...
With three big prawns, the price would not be "small"... it cost RM9.50...
Maybe this is the reason why.... hmmm....
Koay Teow Th'ng for my girl....
And a bowl of laksa to share....
Something is missing here...
Mint leaves!
Or at least some greens?
The fish was generously served though...
I opted for ice kacang.... and forgotten to tell them not to put the ice cream...
It was kind of creamy towards the end...
Lorong Selamat's version of cendol....
Our heavy breakfast cum lunch....
I think my girl will opt for other places the next time...

  3. RM9.50 now, eh? The ckt was RM8 when I went. Overrated, nothing sensational that is worth putting up with the crowd and the long wait. Can have the same or perhaps even nicer ckt, elsewhere. Just like our RM10 Sarawak laksa or our RM45 giant prawn noodles here - I never feel it is anything that great to be worth those prices...even with all those prawns.

  4. Sigh!!!...Nothing comes cheap these days. All in all the food looks good & I would opt for the kway teow tng though it looks abit oily. Dessert is a must too.

  5. RM9.50 for the fried noodle with 3 prawns! Over-priced I think.

Ice kacang by itself is nice and cool enough. I would not want ice cream on top too.
