Foodie Trip To Sauk, Kuala Kangsar

WOKE UP EARLY WITH SOME EXCITEMENT IN MIND... Are we going to Sauk this morning?  I was not so sure cos the night before my friend did not confirm it was a Yes or No and after a few messages left unanswered on the handphone, I went to sleep.  And the very first thing I did when I opened my eyes this morning was to check the whatsApp... and to my delight, my friend said Yes, going!  Quickly I jumped up from bed... ouchhhhh.... forgot about my "recuperating" leg....

At around 10am, my friends came and I deposited myself at the back seat of the car with a gleeful smile... A light breakfast was served in the car... my friends are very thoughtful one.. they really take good care of me!  They said I am a "See Tau Por" sitting all by myself at the back seat with my leg up on the seat... hehehehe... Well, still in "disabled" mode.....

So off we go... Sauk... a small little town in Kuala Kangsar and one can pass Sauk if they are going to Lenggong, Gerik or Betong... It is around one hour drive from Ipoh, depending on how fast one drives... my friend is more or less a Formula 1 driver... hahahaha....
And after an hour we reached our destination....
My first time visiting this town....
My friend is so gracious... she took us one round to see the town...
Before we finally landed in this shop  Lau Kai Ikan Sungai Restaurant....
There are a few shops selling seafood as we cruised along...
But little did I know my friend had made a reservation with this shop before she came..
Dishes to choose from....
And we had a hard time ordering what we wanted...
Eventually we had what the Lady Boss suggested....
Saito Fish Balls...
Two versions.. Steamed and Fried...
My Preference... it cost 60 sen for each...
Fresh prawns.... steamed...
Presentation is definitely not there... no ginger, no coriander leaves....
hmmmmm.....
The green recommended was good... fresh and crunchy....
And our fourth dish is the steamed fish...
Saito Fish... cut piece by piece...

The sauce went well with our white rice.... and it was very appetizing...
But the portion was quite small... just enough for three small eaters such as us...
ahemmmm.....
But the bill was not too small though..
It came to around RM118...
First customers of the day...
Mingling with the Lady Boss and her kids...

  2. This restaurant must be very famous for its food to charge a high price for them but of course the big prawns are very expensive. Though I like to eat fresh prawns but I am very lazy to peel them so would rather not eat them, hahahaha, laziness win over gluttony. ;p

  3. Right behind the Chinese arch, a mosque - very 1Malaysia, eh?

The sauce in the steamed fish dish looks like something I would enjoy. Fresh prawns, or for that matter, seafood of any kind, do not need any garnishing - sweet enough on its own so if it is for the sake of presentation, no need lah.

  4. Like I always say, you are truly blessed to have such caring friends. Food looks good & I love anything with sauce/gravy. Drown my rice with it & I can finish it in a jiffy.
