Hainanese Food At Hollywood Restaurant, Penang

WHILE IN PENANG, I WAS INVITED to a birthday dinner at Hollywood Restaurant, Tanjung Bungah.  The name sounds interesting but in actual fact, this restaurant is better knows for its authentic Hainanese food besides their seafood dishes.  This is my first time eating in this restaurant... the first time I was there last time was to take pictures of the beach only....
The scenery at 6pm in the evening....
As for the food, I couldn't take them all...
Feel kind of embarrassed to take the food..
They don't know I am a blogger ma...
hahahahaa...
I only managed to take these few...
I was fascinated with this "Birthday Cake" aka "Sau Tao" in cantonese...
Even more fascinated when it was cut up...
There are "babies" inside... !
The Birthday Girl is a 86 years old lady
And this cake represented Grandkids and Great Grandkids....
Hainanese Popiah...

Part of the food served at the beginning... at the later part, the camera was put aside already...
Deeply concentrating on the food.....
Business was brisk...
In the midst of the dinner, while waiting for the food to be served...
I came out to capture the scenery again...
It was our last night in Penang...

  3. 1st time seeing sau tao with babies insides. For a change nice to have this as a birthday cake instead of the normal cake. I saw the steamed fish, would love it.

  10. Lol! I am more interested in the seaside scenery. I would be very busy taking snapshots. The Peach buns or birthday buns looks pretty. The one that caught my attention is the Hainanese popiah.
