A Bitter And Sweet Experience In Kimberley Street, Penang

THE EVENING WAS STILL YOUNG WHEN our dinner was safely tucked in... what I need then was something cooling and one shop in Kimberley Street came to my mind.

It was a weekday so the street was not as busy as during the weekends....
But I said it a bit too soon...
An hour later, I saw a tourist bus passing by... with full of passengers...
Stopped by here to have black herbal jelly and tea....
Then we walked along the street to see what they have in store...
And I was made to stop here.... thought it was just to look see....
Then someone mentioned... "RM10 for 3.. cheap cheap!"
And they have places to sit to enjoy the fruit king...
Eventually I couldn't resist too....
They tasted so Bitter... and I love the bitterness in them!!
Small durians no doubt... after all, RM10 for 3...
What to expect...
Anyway, three or not, we could not finish them all....
Walked further down, we saw more stalls... but my tummy was just too full to tuck in anymore...
Food, I mean...
Though they looked kind of tempting....
But I could still tuck in a bowl of "Sweetness"
As for the durians, they are kept till the next day to go with my lunch!
This is what I called a Bitter And Sweet Experience... :)

    1. I hear the natural durians, growing wild, have a hint of bitterness amidst the sweetness - much nicer than those hybrids. A lot of people prefer these.

  6. You want "liu lian", don't go to Georgetown ya, Penang "liu lian" comes from Balik Pulau, they get more expensive the further north you go. Stick to Bayan Lepas area, you can get cheaper and bigger. Or better, go straight to Balik Pulau, to those durian orchards :P ...
