The Smokehouse Hotel At Cameron Highlands

BADE BYE TO PENANG and back to Ipoh for one night.  The very next morning, the travel bugged me again... this time we drove up to the highlands, yes... Cameron Highlands!  I had not been there for a couple of years already.  The drive from Ipoh to Brinchang took more than an hour half to reach and this time we decided to put up a night instead of driving to and fro on the same day.  At my age, it is now pretty tiring to drive a couple of hours straight....

After a simple lunch at a North Indian restaurant in a mall, we proceeded to visit an English Tudor style Hotel built in 1939.  It is called The Smokehouse Hotel and Restaurant located between Brinchang and Tanah Rata....
This is the first time we came close up and personal with The Smokehouse....
Nice ambiance that make us feel very "English-sey" upon entering.....
The entrance to the reception.... on the left is the restaurant...
A beautiful landscaping at the right....
That's the name... Ye Olde Smokehouse!
Come... let's go in and have a look!
It is more on a Scottish look with their deco all around...
I was told these were from Scotland aging more than 300 years ago....
Tulip vases...
Now there are no more such as these....
Very unique shapes for flowers....
Cosy corner for tea and tete-a-tete...
It feels more like a home than a hotel.....
At another corner where the fireplace lays....
Beautiful settings...
The tea house corner... either here or in the garden....
One must not leave this place without taking endless pictures....
One can opt to have tea in the garden too....
And that was what we did... the very next day!
More rooms for booking a short dis
Should we book a room here?  Maybe the next time....
The rates vary from RM400 over.... but I think I can get some discount...
hahahaha...
Yes, I didn't leave this place without taking almost every part of the garden and hotel....
Yes, we certainly must come back for tea and scone the next day...
It wouldn't be "Cameron" without having their famous tea and hot scones, right?

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...
Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch here in …

Caring And Sharing At Limestone, Regal Lodge, Ipoh

IMPROMPTU GATHERING.... Nothing was planned beforehand, it was only at the last minute that we received call to have lunch at Limestone Cafe, inside Regal Lodge.  It was my first time there to have set lunch.  The menu prices were reasonable, around RM15.90 for the main dish, RM3 for a bowl of soup and RM2 for ice cream.  Other than that, coffee, tea and soft drinks are free.
We were there not so much for the food but for the ambiance... we practically had the whole cafe to ourselves during that lunch hour.  Only one or two tables were occupied and we spent more than two hours there since it was a Friday long hour lunch for my working colleagues.  After a few months absence from me, it was wonderful to catch up with my ex-colleagues again!
I was super hungry by lunch time and I felt like eating almost anything in the menu. We ended up ordering one main dish each and then sharing them with one another so that we could taste a bit of this and that.....
I felt like eating Aglio Oli…

Famous Wanton Mee At New Hoong Kee, Bandar Sri Damansara

BREAKFAST FEAST..  Best meal of the day is always my first meal because I know I am able to tuck in as much as my stomach can accept.  I eat a lot in the mornings and then slowly dwindle by the end of the day.  As the saying goes, eat like a king in the morning and like a pauper in the evenings.  This is what I normally do nowadays, not because I wanted to, but it is my own body system that tune me this way.  Though I deny I am old but the body says otherwise... LOL...

On this morning, we went to New Hoong Kee in Bandar Sri Damansara, my sibling said this is currently his favourite place.  And after trying, I know why.... the food we ordered, all turned out good and tasty, even the curry reminded me of my good old days!
Managed to catch the name otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell this story now...  My type of curry... I can go without the chicken... Just the other ingredients will do fine for me.. I like the way they cook this curry... Heard the BBQ pork is tasty too... melt in …
