A Visit To Christ Church, Oxford

THE MAIN ATTRACTION IN OXFORD IS CHRIST CHURCH.... Aaron told me that the movie of Harry Potter is filmed here in this place itself, I did not watch that movie so I couldn't find the connection.  The entrance fees for tourists to visit this Christ Church college is £7 per person.   Tourists are allowed to visit the dining area and the chapel and the surrounding premises only.  My kids find the place interesting, the experience being inside one of the most famous college which is so much different from ours in Malaysia.

Christ Church is the largest, and one of the most famous, Oxford colleges. However, it is not correct to call it 'Christ Church College' – it should be called 'Christ Church' only, or informally, ‘The House’.  Christ Church is one of the colleges of Oxford University. It sits in the heart of the city, right next to Christ Church Meadow, a large green urban space leading down to the Thames. It has wonderful buildings from every century since its foundation in 1546. Today it is a key part of a very modern university, offering a home, undergraduate teaching and graduate supervision to over six hundred students. Its academic staff cover almost all subjects taught at Oxford. It stands out for its size, the beauty of its buildings, and its welcoming atmosphere, as well as the distinguished research and teaching that goes on within its walls. It is unique in another way too: it is a joint foundation of college and cathedral.

At the gate entrance to the gardens of Christ Church....
And here is one of the tourists....
Making her way to go to see the college....
Part of Christchurch in view....
Tourists here and everywhere...
And while waiting to enter.....
And these two did some leg exercise....
Inside the gardens of the college...
Leading to some parts of the college...
The chapel...
The dining room....
Cannot remember where this is.....

At the Radcliffe Square....
One last pose before we left.....

  2. This place is wonderful! And great pictures. I think it is wrong to charge admission into a church. Remember when Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers in front of the synagogue?
