The Journey From Cardiff To London

THE VERY NEXT DAY, WE HAVE TO CHECK OUT BEFORE 10AM from the IBIS hotel in Cardiff.  Without taking any breakfast, we loaded our stuff into our rented car and drove to my friend's restaurant The Crispy Duck for an early lunch.  Unfortunately it was not opened when we arrived, it opens at noon each day, we were half an hour early and we set off again... Along the highway, we stopped at a rest house to have our breakfast, a Continental one, we ordered two sets and shared among the three of us.

From Cardiff to London, it took around three hours to reach and we drove straight to the airport Heathrow to return the car to Avis.  Not necessary to drive around London, it is not so convenient when parking is concerned.  After returning the car, we took a subway station straight to our hotel, another budget one in the centre of London, Zone A, as my son said.  It was something like Tune hotel, which supplies just the bed and attached toilet.  No TV, no table nor chairs. :)  Just enough space for us to put our luggage at one corner and have comfortable sleeps for our next four nights.
The driver and the co
Resthouse where we had our continental lunch...
Two sets cost around 10 pounds...
Kept us full till the next meal....
Our rented car for the past six days from Avis...
And subway is our mode of transport for the next five days...
We checked in to our hotel and after depositing our stuff, we went for our dinner...
Recommended is the Eat Tokyo, a half hour walk from our place...
We were practically the first ones to arrive there... early birds..
Cos we did not make reservation...
And by the time it opened at 6pm, the crowd was already there...
The whole restaurant was filled up the moment it opened...
We were totally taken aback...
We were so glad that we were the first in line and were led upstairs for our table...
Our orders for the evening....
Yes, our dinner was satisfying...
just that we didn't order as many as we normally did in Malaysia! :)
After our dinner, we strolled around the area...
Our first night in London....

  1. Really enjoy reading about your travels. Glad you are having such a great time with your children. By the way, the Japanese food that you had looks good!

  3. Eat Tokyo is a popular eatery with young people. I may have there once, many years ago.

Worth checking out Sky Garden on your next visit to the capital. It's London's highest public roof top garden at 155 meters up in Fenchurch Street. It is free but you have to book online. Bring your ID (passport/ID card/credit or debit card as proof of identity) and copy/e-copy of your online booking.

    1. Pity you miss the roof top garden in John Lewis. Lovely, lovely garden with lots of flowering plants and some veg. It's free to enter. I have been told they open the roof top garden to the public for Christmas and it's very good, too. The view from the roof top is not as awesome as the one from the Sky Garden.

  6. Have fun travelling around London! You must be happy to be eating Japanese food instead of Western food. Good move to go early and get seats since you all didn't book.

  9. Nice holiday again. I normally eat a lot too when in overseas because all the distance walking and cool winter would burn off calories & fats faster.
