Food Discovery In Old Town, Ipoh

MY SISTER TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A SHOP IN OLD TOWN where they served good authentic food but no one really promotes this shop anywhere in the social media as yet.  LOL...  She told me that no one would bat an eye on this shop, normally people will just drove pass without realizing that it is a shop which serves authentic food such as fried noodles, dishes with rice and other "sidekicks" as well....

Since there were only two of us, we did not order much.... firstly, we wanted to diet a bit... ahemmm.. and secondly, we did not really know what to order.... the menu was written in Chinese and what I did was to take a "peek" at what other patrons were eating and cracking my head to remember what my sister had recommended months ago!

I saw one customer eating this so I pointed and ordered this....
Braised noodles with these ingredients.... never took this anywhere else before...
This is called Kwai Far meen... not too bad too...
And I love these dumplings in soup....
They were different from where I have eaten before....
And now for the shop.... it is called Sin Chuan Heong Hup Kee....
It doesn't look appealing at all, right?
After all these years staying in Ipoh and passing through old town,
I did not know this is a coffeeshop from outside...
The shop is just opposite those carpet shops and textile, right after the old town bridge...
Along Jalan Tun Sambanthan....
Now I know... next time I must bring my foodie "kakis" here!

  3. Thanks for sharing about this place. Next time I go Ipoh I will go here. The braised noodles look like yee mee. They put deep fried dumplings into the soup so they are no longer crunchy/crispy I guess.

  5. All of this food really looks awesome! They must take the money they have not spent on advertising, and buy super fresh food. So was it crowded? Word will get around fast!
