Our Road Trip Up North, Pearl Of The Orient

OUR ROADTRIP CONTINUES....

This time we moved up North and the three of us were pretty excited about it.  Both of them had not been visited Pearl of the Orient for a number of years already.  For this trip, we would be staying four days, three nights at two different hotels due to some special reason.  Started our journey early in the morning so that we would reached in time to have our brunch....

While driving, I didn't notice the dark clouds looming above
But it is pretty obvious now as I post this....
Thank God it did not rain though it looked alarming...
Managed to find the Best Koay Teow Thng here at Cecil Street Market Hawker Center...

Yearning for a hot piping bowl of Koay Teow Th'ng with duck meat...
Should have ordered without the "clots" though..
They look kind of "gross" here..
After separating them and leaving them aside on a different bowl,
the rest was history... *patting stomach*
Next stop... Penang Road Kek Seng for the Laksa...
My sisters said it was not sourish enough...
But the Sweet Delights of their Homemade Durian Ice Cream Ice Kacang
was pretty well received with lots of hmmmmssss..
Durian Ice Kacang served on a plate....
Time for relaxation after a full stomach....
Royal Hotel along Jalan Larut...
From our 9th floor, these scenes greeted us...
Red Roofs is the KFC in bungalow style...
And some footprints to show we are Here!
LOL...

My Failed Project In Baking Mini Egg Cakes

FAILED THIS TIME..... I don't know why, I follow exactly the ingredients and the method written in her website but it was not successful.  Something went wrong somewhere but I don't think I want to try it again.  This recipe is called Mini Egg Cake which is supposed to be soft, airy, light sponge cake but the way I made them, they turned out hard and crusty cake.   If I try again one day, I will half the portion... cos I like to eat these traditional egg cakes.... The Ingredients...  No point putting the recipe here since I failed..  LOL...  The portions of this recipe....  It looked very promising when I put them into the oven.... Even when they were in the baking process... they look good, aren't they? LOL...  I was so happy just by looking at the mini egg cakes in the tray....  And after they were let out... my heart sank....  The minute I took them out from the tray, I knew... Hard at the top...  Tak Jadi = Failed.... Now come to t

Our Orders From Afghanistan, Spanish And Australia

My Final post on the Food Festival in the Victoria Market on Wednesday night.... The atmosphere at the market was "enhanced" by the cheerful songs and music by a group band... It was indeed a merry evening filled with music-licous folk songs in the air... . Ok, how to find four seats in this crowd.... hmmmm....... Somehow we managed to... and these were what my boys brought back to our table.... Mexican rice with oysters... or is it Spanish rice?   Both are the same, I guess... LOL.... Afghanistan Food.... chunks of chicken meat with naan.... Brazilian food.... don't ask me what it is.... I just ate what was on the table....  But I am amazed by this giant burger....  ..... and what burger is this? They told me it is Crocodile Tail Burger! Meat from the crocodile tail?  Is it just a name or what... I really don't know... Took a few bites of it... and I am full!! Well, these were the food we

Home Cooked Dishes

NOT MUCH HAPPENING... and lazy too.... My neighbour gave me half pumpkin and I have been keeping it for a couple of days before I finally decide what to do with it.  I cook it into small chunks and sauteed it with minced meat, okra and basil leaves.  Yes, it would be great to put in some small cilipadi but unfortunately, I did not find any in my fridge.  Steamed a bowl of rice and that was meal for dinner.... One dish meal....  Pumpkin reminds me of sweet potatoes...sweet after cooking... Another dinner meal consist of Sambal Fish, black pepper met and a hard boiled egg  I only boiled the egg, the other two dishes were "sponsored" by my neighbour... LOL...
