No More So Called Economical Food

WOKE UP LATE THIS MORNING.... So ended up having oats as breakfast and for lunch, I went to Farlim with two of my friends.  We had something really simple, no frills and fancies.  Supposedly to be very "economical" and they are actually called "economy food" during my younger days, but... alas, nothing is economical anymore these days.  Nevertheless, I still yearn for this type of food, it brings back good old memories from the younger days!

This shop is situated in Farlim, Menglembu, half an hour away from my house and it only opens at 11am for brunch and lunch.  Thanks to my friend, she just gave me the name of the shop, it is called A1 Phang Leng and the address is Laluan Perusahaan Menglembu 2, Kawasan Perusahaan Menglembu.... and we ordered these for our eating pleasure. :)

Patrons at noon...
A plate of vegetarian noodles... RM2.20 each...
We ordered 2 plates....
7 pieces of crispy stuff to share.....
3 bowls of Red beans sweet desserts...
A bowl of peanuts porridge....
Freshly fried sesame balls.... RM1.20 for each...
All in all, our bill came to RM21.60...
For this amount, each person is RM7...
No more so-called economical food, right!  :)

  1. Economy fast food would refer to the chap fan/mixed rice not "a la carte". Here, usually it is 1 meat 2 vegetables, RM3.50. Quite ok, still quite economical.

  2. For all those food, RM7 is still economical imho because you have to compare the price relative to the price of other food now. Cannot compare to the price of food ten years ago. I like the simple bee hoon and red bean soup.

    2. that means there is no food you can absolutely call keng chai anymore la since if relative then this food is still at the cheapest and lowest rung. even food you cook at home are also expensive if you use quality ingredients.

  4. Interesting meal. I like it. Sigh! Now economy rice cost RM5 for 2 vegetables and 1 meat in some place. Hard to get lower than RM5 unless 2 or 3 veggie dishes.

Mini Birthday Celebration At August Healing, Ipoh

GETTING HEALED AGAIN... this time four of us went to August Healing for other sweet and savoury delights.  This time when we went up to the little cafe, the tables were all occupied except for one.  Next time we must not go during lunch time.  Mistake....  Anyway, we managed to get a table near the window while waiting for another two of my friends to arrive.  First time visit for them and I hope they like the food there as much as I like them.  We ordered three different varieties to share as we had a heavy breakfast in the morning....  Which shall I choose? Berries bread pudding today....  Forgot what this is called....  Garlic honey scones...  Coffee for my friends.... As for me, I had Chamomile tea....  We ordered one croissant to share.... Smoked duck and omelette fillings... Full to the brim... RM15....  Quiche again.... different fillings this time... RM15 And a Happy Birthday piece of cheese cake... RM14.. Though just a few varieties, we were very full.... For dinner, I just ha

Two Dishes One Soup Dinner

AUNTIE'S SIMPLE COOKING... for dinner on one evening.... Defrosted a piece of cod, my last piece in the freezer besides another few more pieces of other types of fish.  I think I consume the most fish this year, never bought so many types of fish before.  Maybe it is made easier for me this year cos of the online shopping at Gracious, cleaned, vacuumed and free delivery above RM50.   My last piece of cod.... A plate of greens called Yau Mak...  Not so sure what it is called in English And chicken herbal soup....  My complete meal for one evening....  As usual, I do not take much rice... Or perhaps I did not take rice at all for this meal....  LOL...

Freshly Baked With Love From Breadlady

BUNS AND PIES... freshly baked with Love.... printed on a brown paper bag, delivered by her handsome son right to my doorstep!  LOL.... Saw it on Facebook, one of my friends put up the fresh curry buns she ordered.  Yours truly saw and salivated and the next thing, I have the details I needed.  During the weekdays, the Breadlady has different kinds of buns and on Saturdays, she makes shepherd pies.  Since I got the details on Friday, I quickly messaged her and ordered 5 packets!  No, I did not eat them all, I ordered for my friends too, they have the same common interest as I do.  LOL...  ' Each set of shepherd pie comes with 2 fresh buns costing RM15.   I like her packing.... Brown paper bag with this slogan... Freshly baked with love...  The pies were still warm when they were delivered to right to  my doorstep with no extra charge... So nice! This was my lunch on Saturday.... I like the buns too...fresh and soft... One is filled with cranberries and apple.. And the other one is
