My Fifth Day At Kyoto, Japan

FIFTH DAY....

After our usual early breakfast, we set out to a few places on this day... *Thank goodness I still have my itinerary with me for reference!)

First destination is Kyoto Arashiyama to see the Togetsu Bridge, a landmark in Western Kyoto for over four hundred years.  To see the wooden bridge that spans the Katsura River in front of Arashiyama mountain...

And from there we walked to Sagano, an area where the bamboo groves scattered along the mountains... and we were told that the movie "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" was filmed there... after that, we were taken to Kiyomizu Temple and Heian Shrine....
Taken from Togetshu Bridge...
Sagano...
The crowds... or should I say tourists.....
And one of the shrines we visited on this day....
Part of my trademarks for the day....

  2. As usual, I visited during cold Winter when the crowd was the least and hotels are cheapest. It was easier to take so many selfies at the bamboo groves without anyone photo bomb. I think you missed out one attraction which you needed to walk till the end of the bamboo groves and hike up the slopes that eventually connects to the river where the Togetsu Bridge is. There is a well landscaped park and a huge stone carvings that engraved the wisdom words of China's Ex-premier Zhou En Lai. He studied in Japan and lived in Kyoto. He sat at the park almost daily probably to relax and study...
