Year End Trip To Taiwan

A PLANNED TRIP TO TAIWAN.... not by me but by the youngsters.  I wanted to go Taiwan but not on conducted tours, I prefer free and easy where we can go to any place we want to.  That was what I told my kids last year and I am grateful to them that they managed to make this trip come true for me. I told them... You all do the planning, just let me know how much to pay only.  LOL... And that was what they did.  They checked the online websites for cheap tickets, searched for tour guide for two days, booked the hotels, changed currency... and pass the bill over... LOL... just kidding!

And our trip to Taiwan started on the 29th December last year.  I flew down to Singapore to meet them up, had our free dinner and rested at the lounge till it was time to board at 1am.  Slept a bit on the plane and we reached Taipei airport within 5 hours.  Our driver cum tour guide was waiting for us at the airport... so nice!  On the way to Taichung, they took us for local meat dumplings and fresh soyabean for breakfast... and our three hours drive was a blissful sleep for me!

First destination we stopped at Sanwan Miaoli... a small and rural township where we walked a "roller coaster" roadway to one nature park.... Weather was good, cold but bearable...
At the lounge filling up our tummies...
A long half hour walk up and down on this long and winding road..
The tour guide in front of us leading the way...
We did not know what to expect... mountains and trees?
And people.....
So... eventually, we reached... the "place"...
So after all the puffing and huffing up and down the roads...
We finally saw what we were headed for...
Click, click, click... and then...
the long walk back to our van....

  1. Somehow I don't feel like going to Taiwan...or China, for that matter. I was there before though...a long long time ago.

  2. It is more fun to go on own agenda, not follow tour. I would do that if going to Taiwan.

Beautiful water photo. Nice of the youngster to plan this holiday.

  3. Wah...so nice! I agree lah, those conducted tours are not good - tight schedule and you only get to spend short time at so many places. Not syiok like that.

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...
Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch here in …

Caring And Sharing At Limestone, Regal Lodge, Ipoh

IMPROMPTU GATHERING.... Nothing was planned beforehand, it was only at the last minute that we received call to have lunch at Limestone Cafe, inside Regal Lodge.  It was my first time there to have set lunch.  The menu prices were reasonable, around RM15.90 for the main dish, RM3 for a bowl of soup and RM2 for ice cream.  Other than that, coffee, tea and soft drinks are free.
We were there not so much for the food but for the ambiance... we practically had the whole cafe to ourselves during that lunch hour.  Only one or two tables were occupied and we spent more than two hours there since it was a Friday long hour lunch for my working colleagues.  After a few months absence from me, it was wonderful to catch up with my ex-colleagues again!
I was super hungry by lunch time and I felt like eating almost anything in the menu. We ended up ordering one main dish each and then sharing them with one another so that we could taste a bit of this and that.....
I felt like eating Aglio Oli…

Famous Wanton Mee At New Hoong Kee, Bandar Sri Damansara

BREAKFAST FEAST..  Best meal of the day is always my first meal because I know I am able to tuck in as much as my stomach can accept.  I eat a lot in the mornings and then slowly dwindle by the end of the day.  As the saying goes, eat like a king in the morning and like a pauper in the evenings.  This is what I normally do nowadays, not because I wanted to, but it is my own body system that tune me this way.  Though I deny I am old but the body says otherwise... LOL...

On this morning, we went to New Hoong Kee in Bandar Sri Damansara, my sibling said this is currently his favourite place.  And after trying, I know why.... the food we ordered, all turned out good and tasty, even the curry reminded me of my good old days!
Managed to catch the name otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell this story now...  My type of curry... I can go without the chicken... Just the other ingredients will do fine for me.. I like the way they cook this curry... Heard the BBQ pork is tasty too... melt in …
