The Flying Noodles In Ipoh

FELLOWSHIPING with my neighbour....

We went for two meals on the same day.... desserts in the hot afternoon and dinner in the evening.  My Neighbour is a real foodie, he goes out for food every morning, most afternoons and sometimes evenings as well.  He gets most of the food info from Facebook.  LOL... He joins most of the foodie group in Ipoh.  And I get all the info from him either directly or through his FB account... LOL...

He took us to a dessert shop one afternoon...
Ah Q Dessert in Bercham....
One evening he took us to Wai Wai restaurant for fried noodles....
Not the normal type of noodles...
But this is called Flying Noodles....
I call it Magic Noodles...
Standing by itself....
My friend commented it was rather eerie....
Claypot Loe Shu Fun...
Boiling while served...
So have to be very careful here....
Smoked duck....RM20
Again, the Flying noodles... RM30....
With two big prawns...
And we quickly took pictures before the noodles came crashing down....

  1. The flying noodles is a new trend now. I saw photos showing the noodles standing higher. I am waiting to enjoy the flying noodles soon.

You have such a great neighbor who is well updated with best food.

  2. I've got my eyes on the smoked duck. The flying noodles do not interest me at all - it seems that they splash a lot of hot oil on the noodles to fry them to make them hard and crispy so it will stand like that - all a gimmick...and what a waste of the expensive oil!!!

Here in Sibu, we have the flying kampua - the lady will toss the noodles up to the ceiling and catch them when they come down...and toss them with the ingredients in a plate or bowl. Now that is what I call "flying"!!!

  6. I saw a video showing how they make the noodle stand. The smoked duck will be good for porridge.

  7. So there's nothing hidden inside to hold the noodles together? Gimmick aside, did the noodles taste good? Lol.
