Lim Kopitiam Along Hugh Low

Along Hugh Low Street Street, there is a new coffee shop opened quite recently... it is called Lim Kopitiam, located just opposite the Kinta Valley Tours.

I remember keeping the receipt for the actual address.. but now I cannot find it.. how to become an established food blogger?? sigh...

Anyway, just look at the photos... for now..

I ordered this dry curry prawn special...

it cost RM5.50 ($1.75usd)

roasted pork curry... RM3.70 ($1.20usd)

barbecued pork curry RM3.70 ($1.20usd)

pork skin with long beans curry RM3.00 ($1.00usd)

chicken soup with prawns.. (forgotten the price!)

steamed wholemeal dumplings too
to eat them with curry as well... if you like!

as for me, I always go for dessert...
sweet potato with sago - RM1.50 ($0.50 usd)

If I earn in US dollars, everything seems so cheap here, right???
hahahaha....

A Long Journey To Taiping!

From Ipoh to Taiping, it takes around thirty to forty minutes from one toll to another but to my disappointment and dismay, the journey took me THREE HOURS during my previous trip!

Started off from my house to the toll, it was very smooth but just after paying the toll, driving up the mountain, the row of cars were at a standstill.... crawling like a snail up the mountain. Never had I before been stuck like this... some cars were stalled half way because it was really a long stretch uphill, then through the tunnel and down the mountain... all in all, my car was crawling by little by little... I can see my petrol tank meter dropping one bar by bar.... Gosh!

see, I even have time to take pictures with my handphone..

then finally saw a lorry being overturned at some point..
and the debris was all over on the highway...
that was the reason... aiyah!!

Finally... eventually... can see the greens in Taiping..

but all was forgotten when the Greens welcomed us..

What's UP, Doc?

Feeling not quite good this morning, I went to pay a visit to my regular "What's Up, Doc" clinic near my house. To my dismay, he was on an Europe trip... never mind... according to the nurse, the substitute doctor is also a very nice man.... No choice, have to go in and upon checking my blood pressure, the doctor told me that I was on the low side... low pressure, I mean...

The reading was only 116/62! Super low la... can pengsan anytime, right? *faint*

He asked me what I have taken lately... celery? Bitter gourd? Nope.. nope.. I didn't but I remember taking a lot of grass jelly... (kwai leen koe) Maybe that triggered off my low blood pressure...

Before I left, doctor advised me to go home and rest... don't walk here and there... hahahaha...

I followed his advice and went home.... and prepared this soup... to replenish blood...

bought a whole "village" chicken

added in lots of wolfberries, red dates,
some dried scallops and "tong sum"
boil for 2 hours plus....

my girl and I drank 3 bowls each...
hope my blood pressure is not so low now...
actually how low is low blood pressure?

Nasional Service Namelist 2012 - Updated Or Not?

I woke up feeling giddy this morning... immediately I told myself, "OK, no going to office today!" I slumped back on my pillow, continuing my nameless dream....

Yes, I slept very late last night, almost 1am... er... what did I do? Lots... multi-tasking, one right hand on the mouse, one eye on the laptop and another eye on the TV screen! Hebat not? Geng not? Believe it or not? Surely unbelievable.. where I can do this!

But one thing is true... I watched this "amazing movie" on TV called American Werewolf in Paris!! hahahaa... I cannot believe I watched this crap movie and enjoying it to bits!

Ok, while watching, I hit, hit and HIT the enter button endless times on http://www.khidmatnegara.gov.my/..... call me an Anxious Mum... yeah, I accept that...

Well, I don't know to believe or to trust the response it gave me this morning... it said, "Maaf, andy tidak dipilih etc etc...." *sorry, you are not chosen for this national service program 9/2012*...

The "MAAF" word is sweet.... but then.... is it true??

Most of my girl's friends also received the word "MAAF...." *Sorry*

Don't tell me the list is not updated yet???

National Service 2012 (Khidmat Negara)

For those born in 1994, the national service list of names is out.... BUT.... I have tried endless times to log in but in vain. My girl is jittery now, a few of her close friends called her up and told her that they were not chosen. They were very happy of not being chosen....

I guess the website http://www.khidmatnegara.gov.my/ is very busy now, each time I log in, it says Error in Logging in Database Connection...

My girl is easing off her nervousness playing the piano .... as for me, I don't have anything where I can release the tension except through blogging about it here....

Questions like "how ah if chosen to go? will she be able to cope with it? Can she withstand the sun cos of her sensitive skin...." Heard many horror stories about the NS... as a parent, I can't help feeling skeptical about the training being monitored properly or not.

Well, I guess I am being overly worried.. actually many of them enjoyed themselves a lot in the NS. One of my nieces who went for it this year came back telling that she enjoyed herself so much that she cried during the last day farewell.....

I am consoling myself with this...

I HEART IPOH

My girl and I have this in common... (finally!)
Both of us have the same craze for this type of T-shirt that says.. I HEART............
In fact both of us have a few I HEART ...... er... I HEART Singapore, I HEART Penang, I HEART KL....

Yesterday while walking in the shopping mall, we came across I HEART IPOH t-shirt, never before we saw any shop selling this... quickly we asked the price and grabbed two of them... Not cheap though, it cost RM18 for small size and RM20 for medium.

I told my girl that both of us will wear the same shirt some day, OK?..... and her reaction? *aiks, see first... *

My Blog Friend, A Novelist

Before I started blogging three years ago, I used to be an avid reader but not all types of books, I only love to read fiction books. Actually I am quite "choosy" when it comes to reading, during younger days, I love to read all "romance" books but now it has changed. My top priority books are more on court cases, murders, thrillers that include psychopaths, silent killers and so on.... frightened myself to sleep at times... (chi kei hak chi kei)

Two days ago I saw a brown box lying on my front porch. I thought it was from Booksneeze.. but when I opened, this book was written by this lady blogger...... ooooh... a Romance Book! In fact, this lady has given me a book earlier, written by her too, it is called Shattered Hearts... and now I feel so honoured to receive another of her masterpiece called....
