Environment Friendly Saved My Money

I was in Penang last Tuesday for some appointment. After my appointment, I went to Queensbay to browse around and something caught my eye. A comforter for my car. It was quite cheap, only RM15.00. So .. happily I took it to the cashier and took out my money.....

But... I didn't manage to buy it. Why?

It was a Monday.. and it seems Penang is promoting "Plastic-less" on Mondays till Wednesdays. In a way I love their campaign but I ended up not buying cos I din't want to carry the comforter up and down Queensbay...

Thank You Jaya Jusco for being Plastic-less and for "saving" my cash... after all, I don't really need the comforter for my car. :)

  2. Glad to hear that you managed to get away from the temptation. This happens to me very often and I always end up regretting on buying unnecessary items. Sometimes, I wonder how much I could have saved if only I had realised my mistakes earlier...

  3. When you talked about Queensbay, something strikes me. I went to Queensbay one day and saw some Hong Kong instant 'hor fun' (noodles). That 'hor fun' is not available in Ipoh Jusco so I grabbed 15 packets altogether. Only after I'd paid that I found out that it was plastic-less day. Guess what? I 'carried' my noodles as if I were carrying a baby in my arms. On the way to the carpark, my 'babies' took turns to fall off my arms...

  10. Hi Claire, I've caught up on your blogs... Sorry about all of the money you had to spend on that breakfast. Those are the kind of things that you need to change ---if you want to balance your checkbook...

You should throw away your PLASTIC and not use it at all.... Just my humble opinion..

    Good Luck.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  11. A good lesson! I carry alot of cloth bags in both of our cars but I have the very bad habit of getting into the stores and to the checkout and then remembering that I left the bags out in my car!!

  12. P.S. So to aleviate the problem of forgetting the cloth bags, I am now carrying a couple folded very small in my handbag!

  13. It's Monday in Sibu...but I wish they would have it every day like overseas. I have the recycled bag in my car boot...and I always carry a Kiew Brothers (Woe Lai Yea) paper back...and I also have a lot of tote bags. Thing green - don't accept plastic bags even on non-no plastic bag days...

  14. chrisau: yes, we r not used to it in our area yet...

pete: sometimes big handbags also not cukup to put..how to put a packet of soap powder inside? oil? heavy stuff? hahaha.. must use trolley, yeah..

kathy: in pg, monday till wed.. in ipoh, macam tak ada..

betsy: yes, save the world.. i hope this campaign works throughout the earth..

cheryl: what a good idea, i must do the same.. either put some big plastic bags inside the car or use the cloth bags..plastic for wet stuff.

stp: yeah, i must put more bags in my car, my house are filled with them.. nowadays when i buy foodstuff or dry stuff, i refuse plastic bags if possible.. the shop will smile and nod "yes, save the environment" :)

  18. aishiang: it might take some time to get the world people fully aware of the consequences.. meanwhile for those of us who know, we will avoid using if possible.

    shingoT: yes, sooner or later..

mamamia: last time when i was young, i remember using paper bags.. but of course for heavy things, cannot tahan one..

  20. Hi Reanaclaire...we (in South Africa)have been slowly changing from plastic shopping bags to cloth, for several years. But I confess, I still forget.

  24. my husband gave free shopping bags to his customers and told them to use them for their shopping but only a handful really cared.

  25. wenn, u r dealing with commercial biz? i think it is not that they dont want to use, they feel they dont need to.. cos plastic bags are given...

  26. Very good concept but can be quite inconvenient at times. I carry a few collapsible bags in my bag all the time because I dont like collecting carrier bags in the house. It's just a habit that I need to get used to but it's well worth it. X
