It was a peaceful and a serene night... With the lights down low in the master bedroom, The Wife watched her favorite Korean show while her husband slept peacefully beside her. She was engrossed with the show and when it ended hours later, she decided to call it a night....
Lying next to her husband, she closed her eyes.... and....then she sensed something amiss. Her husband was sleeping next to her, so quietly, in fact too quiet... Negative thoughts came to her mind... "How come he is not snoring tonight?" She edged closer to her hubby and gave him a slight push.... No response....
In darkness, she continued to fear... fearing for the worst, she shook her husband harder and called him..."Wei!! Wei!!!!"
With that hard push, her husband suddenly sat up with a jolt.... "what.. what...happeneddd??"
Heaving a sigh of relief, she said, "Oh, just want to make sure you are breathing.. go back to sleep la....."
(This is not a story, it is a real life incident that caught me laughing in stitches... with her permission, I become her story teller tonight :p )

Great story, Claire..... When my hubby is in a DEEP DEEP sleep, he too is very very quiet... Kinda scary, huh????? When someone snores, they are not in a deep state of sleep...ReplyDelete
shuying: last time i also pushed a bit.. then if he moved, that means ok..but i never push until wake up one.. :pReplyDelete
Merryn: why i laughed was that she called and shoved him till he woke up in a jolt.. last time i also checked on my kids when they were sick, make sure.. but not to the extent of making them sit up..
betsy: oh, in deep sleep means no noise?
opposite from what i'll do.. if he snores n keeps me awake, i'll cubit his nose, wake him up n quickly go to sleep, before he snores again.ReplyDelete
well, sleeping like a log could be scary :)ReplyDelete
I have done this as well! Especially with my children when they were little.ReplyDelete
Sounds like he may have sleep apnea. Sometimes snoring can be a comforting sound! Who'd have thought?ReplyDelete
i hope my wife will not do this to me....ReplyDelete
every night repeat like this.... i will become panda one day soon.
Haha..I never do that before. My husband doesn't snore lor.ReplyDelete
You are really observant!!! My son was not barefoot, but he was almost!! He was wearing flip-flops sandals, so the top of his feet were bare. Sadly for him, he could only stomp out the smaller fires because his feet weren't convered enough. I was uurprised that he didn't go home and change his shoes just so he could stomp out the big fires!!ReplyDelete
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....ehhh but no joke, my mum is also like the husband so my dad told me sometimes when there was no noise har he oso got worried hahahahahhaahahhahahahahaReplyDelete
Reminds me of this video clip:ReplyDelete
Much as we may be irritated by those noises, at times they can be such a joy...as they tell us we're alive.
elaine: wahh...so sadist ah?? aahahah...ReplyDelete
wenn: snoring also irritates.. hahaha.. tat includes me! lol..
cheryl: yes, i guess we tend for our little ones.. with adults, we shove a bit to make sure they are OK! :p
ginny: snoring means we are still breathing..right?
voon: keep on snoring so she doesnt have to do this.. lol...
gwenmummy: that shows circulation is good..
ginny: i saw his foot like bared..
manglish: wonder what your pa did then.. called her or shoved her too? :)
stp: hahaha.. that was what i want to mean too.. that shows we are still in this world.. lol..
hahaha.... luckily the husband didnt scold herReplyDelete
Although it sounds funny, but honestly, things like that do happen and can be quite worrying..ReplyDelete
So appreciate everyday like it's going to be your last! :-)
2ma: they are very loving.. :pReplyDelete
kiasumom: yes, it is something common and to think that he woke up with a start, wondering what was happening, is amusing..
OMG. scared me. I thought you want to relate ur late husband story to us.ReplyDelete
What a story..hehehe. If Im the wife surely I shout out to the neighbours hehehehe..lagi bikin malu kan? hehehe..ReplyDelete

Men usually snore, so it would unusual and scary to know that they dont snore for a night! hahaha! You wouldnt want to sleep next to a dead man and only discover the next day right? hahaha!ReplyDelete
Its funny but has a terrifying side to it too... Once I panicked when my son was very ill and the very thought still numbs me...ReplyDelete
rose: gosh.. i nearly did...ReplyDelete
jaanvi: yes, we do worry about our kids..
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAA...this is quite funny, but actually sometime we worried also, especially lately had read so many cases, some people just die like that in their sleep. :(ReplyDelete
Me ar, suffer with three boys snoring at night beside my ear.
annie..so u must join them if u cant beat them! hahhhaaaa...ReplyDelete
Haha. That's funny. ;-)ReplyDelete
But how to reduce snoring?
i loves your title of this post " Are you breathing" there's so much meanings to it. it also means, expressing so much love to any person, whether its their friends, children or just anyoneReplyDelete
keeyit: cannot..but i heard there is a plaster for the nose..
ah ngao: yes, it is scary in a way..
hehe, i'm not sooo dramatic la, but i'm sooo used to my husband's snoring, that, when he doesnt snore, i also stop and go closer to him and watch his chest to see if he's still breathing one... he he... =PReplyDelete
