One Malaysia On Thursday?

Exhausted... just came back from Penang and this trip took me more than 3 hours to reach Ipoh. Any normal days, it will only take less than two hours from Ipoh to Penang...
The jam started from Penang bridge and the highway was at a crawl at certain parts of the way...
If not for automatic gear, I think I would have sore legs by now... serious...

I guess these few days, the highways will be jammed up....

Thank goodness another public holiday on Thursday... does anyone know that? It is Malaysia Day.. or is it One Malaysia Day? Whatever it is, I welcome it!!!

  11. Malaysia Day lah! The actual date Malaysia was formed - September 16th. August 31st the day Semenanjung got its independence in 1957 - no significance for us over here - we got our independence on Malaysia Day itself.

That bridge! How I hated it! And the problem is the flight Sibu-KL-Penang will arrive around 4 something, peak hours and the bridge will be jammed - would take so long to cross and get to SP. My daughter will have to go through that again in 2012... SIGH!!!! Siapa government...also the same, no improvement, no difference at all!!!

  14. Any holiday is most welcomed :)
But 1-Malaysia Day? Nah, the 1-Malaysia concept started long time ago. People just don't know it, others just want to destroy it.

  33. Not true, doc... They've been getting pressure from this side over the years - the unhappiness about Malaysia Day on August 31st when it is actually Malaya Day. Quite meaningless for us to celebrate on that day.

Now, they're relenting...as they're getting worried - after all, we are their so-called "fixed deposits".

  34. doc: i welcome it..whatever day it is..

stp: yes, we in penisular never thought much of it..in fact i didnt know until the issue recently.. :(

    ReplyDelete
  35. Agree with Alv0808...
And yes, sometimes the celebration about 16sept is very confusing because there are issues, opinions or whatever you called it raised both by the politicians and the media.
I surf the internet and I thought my head will explode...lots of facts, stories, explanations and more bla bla bla...
some of it only want to exploit the issue for their own benefit...

It is holiday so whatever...Just give thanks that we live in Malaysia ;)

  39. It's Malaysia Day... the real National Day. Malaysia was formed on 16th Sept many years back... if not mistaken, 47 years ago. 31st August is Independence Day... the day Malaya was freed from the British colonization.

    31st August- Independence Day
    16th Sept- Malaysia/National Day
