Tragedy Due To Forgetfulness

This morning I saw the Star newspaper on my colleague's table.... I thought it was his so I quickly browsed through the pages.... then he told me that our office has free newspaper already and continued to tell me that I could read it at my own pace in my own place... *hinting to shoo me off...*

Anyway, I was not bothered until I read this piece of news that really bothered me.... this incident was kind of sad if you all read today's STAR paper ... it is about a 3 year old toddler who was left in the car sleeping while his father attended his cousin's funeral. He practically had forgotten all about his girl until an hour later, he finally remember and realized it.. Unfortunately it was too late, his girl had passed on....died of severe heatstroke.... imagine inside the car under the hot weather...

What a disaster..... sad case....

It can happens....especially when our minds are so distracted on something else that we are oblivious of others around us. That is a wake-up call for me.... sometimes my mind is so occupied that I lose track of time and others who are so important to me....

  1. Very sad to read this story. Difficult to know what was on the dad's mind to make him forget his daughter... RIP little angel.

  2. Yes, I saw that. So very sad. Maybe he underestimated the heat...or he was just plain STUPID! I heard it happened in countries overseas even - parents locking their kids in the cars and they went into the casinos to gamble...and the kids died.

I wouldn't let an adult wait too long for me in the car, much less a poor little kid like that.

  4. Yes Claire, so sad when I read it too. And sad to say that in this age of high technology, it's is only gonna get worse. We are inaundated with so many distractions that mistakes and incidences of negliegence will just occur. I feel it is crucial for us to try practise mindfulness so that we could at least try focus on priorities.

gratitude: in today's technology, if we dont use it well, it brings more harm than good.. like for instance, we talk to the computer or on iphone more than communicating with the real people..

hayley: actually this is not the first time i heard of this.. that is why it is sad..

  9. Hi Claire,

Yes, I did read and hear about it again on the news today. It's so unfortunate. A child's death could have been prevented .. it just makes my heart break and renders me speechless.

  10. I saw the news too. I was heartbroken. It reminds me of how many kids had died due to simple careless act like that. They were so young, and have yet to see the world. God bless the deceased.

  11. I would say it was all due to negligence, the failing of today's parents in taking proper care of their own children, resulting in irreparable damage which is totally unforgiven. It's too late and useless for him to regret anything now because such incident can surely be avoided if only the father had more responsibility on his own flesh and blood...

  15. Sad case and I think Oprah talk about it on her show before. The saddest thing is that there is no one to blame >.< imagine how heartbroken the parents can be T_T
