Homecooked Dishes At Kampong Simee "House cum Shop"

We left Rawang around 5.30pm and by the time we reached Ipoh, it was almost 8pm... and before going home, we took our dinner in Kampung Simee. This time we tried out the food in a corner house cum food stall, just opposite the Chung Tak Primary School in Kampung Simee. I have been there several times but have not tried the following dishes before. Love the home-cooked dishes that come with a reasonable price. Well, back to Ipoh, the prices cannot be too sky-high.. hahahaa...
Their special for the day is "homecooked" Steamed Pork Ribs...
For greens, I ordered this "dragon vege..... "
And to furnish all the whole package, a simple "Mixed Omelette"
For three dishes and three plates of rice plus drinks,
the bill came to around RM34.00 ($11usd?)
I think it is pretty reasonable for the dishes such as these...
After the meal, it was time to go home and rest...
A wonderful getaway and looking forward to another one next month! :)

  15. Very affordable dishes and looks quite tasty too.

The vege is known as "青龍菜" (green dragon vege - ching loong choy) and it is actually chives "韭菜" grown using a special technique by farmer Lau Kuan in Cameron Highlands.

  16. This green dragon vegetable is actually chives (kao choy) grown in a special way.

Taken from the star dated 16 may 2005:

"He lets his chives grow for six weeks before chopping off the top half of the leaves to be used as mulch and fertiliser.

He then covers the remaining chives with a thick nylon netting for 10 days in a process known as blanching before harvesting them.

Limiting sunlight made the chives more tender and delicious as they contained less fibre, Lau said."

The title of the above news article is "Farmer rejects pesticide use in growing chives".

  17. mecoy: omelette is nice everywhere..

mun: yeah, it looks like kau choy and also taste almost the same.. only that it is broader and looks kind of "higher class." Maybe because of the name? :)

    kathy: come Ipoh la!!!
