Tai You Coffeeshop Along Jalan Bendahara, Ipoh

THE LAST TIME I WENT TO THIS TAI YOU COFFEESHOP WAS IN 2009.... no joke!  When I was still working, I remember my colleagues and I went there quite frequently those days but somehow along the years go by, this shop has been "deleted" from our mind.  Oh yeah!  Now I remember, the stall which served these dishes in 2009 had changed hands with another, it was previously done by a husband and wife team... then they left and handed over by another man and we did not like to go there after the couple left.....

This was in 2009 and the shop is still more or less the same today.....
Tai You along Jalan Bendahara, Ipoh
Famous for their steamed fish head then....
Green leaves....
And omelette...
Those were what we usually ordered then.....
When I came back from Europe recently, I was taken to this shop again....
Six years later.....
I think the stall has changed hands again... not sure who is who now...
Now it is cooked by an elderly man and helped by a young boy.....
We ordered Bitter Gourd soup....
and I only remember to take picture after drinking half way through..
It was also an enormous fish head....
Price has since increased... of course....
For just two dishes it cost around RM46 with rice for the three of us...
Fish is not cheap nowadays....
Or perhaps we have to wait another 6 years to go there again...
hahhahaha....

  4. Hahaha, wait another 6 years to go back there. If you do that, I think it would have changed hands again. I prefer to eat steamed fish instead of steamed fish head.

  8. It's like that lah, when the original people left, we tend to not go back because we are so used to them. But it looks like the food is not bad.

Our Orders From Afghanistan, Spanish And Australia

My Final post on the Food Festival in the Victoria Market on Wednesday night.... The atmosphere at the market was "enhanced" by the cheerful songs and music by a group band... It was indeed a merry evening filled with music-licous folk songs in the air... . Ok, how to find four seats in this crowd.... hmmmm....... Somehow we managed to... and these were what my boys brought back to our table.... Mexican rice with oysters... or is it Spanish rice?   Both are the same, I guess... LOL.... Afghanistan Food.... chunks of chicken meat with naan.... Brazilian food.... don't ask me what it is.... I just ate what was on the table....  But I am amazed by this giant burger....  ..... and what burger is this? They told me it is Crocodile Tail Burger! Meat from the crocodile tail?  Is it just a name or what... I really don't know... Took a few bites of it... and I am full!! Well, these were the food we

My Failed Project In Baking Mini Egg Cakes

FAILED THIS TIME..... I don't know why, I follow exactly the ingredients and the method written in her website but it was not successful.  Something went wrong somewhere but I don't think I want to try it again.  This recipe is called Mini Egg Cake which is supposed to be soft, airy, light sponge cake but the way I made them, they turned out hard and crusty cake.   If I try again one day, I will half the portion... cos I like to eat these traditional egg cakes.... The Ingredients...  No point putting the recipe here since I failed..  LOL...  The portions of this recipe....  It looked very promising when I put them into the oven.... Even when they were in the baking process... they look good, aren't they? LOL...  I was so happy just by looking at the mini egg cakes in the tray....  And after they were let out... my heart sank....  The minute I took them out from the tray, I knew... Hard at the top...  Tak Jadi = Failed.... Now come to t

Home Cooked Dishes

NOT MUCH HAPPENING... and lazy too.... My neighbour gave me half pumpkin and I have been keeping it for a couple of days before I finally decide what to do with it.  I cook it into small chunks and sauteed it with minced meat, okra and basil leaves.  Yes, it would be great to put in some small cilipadi but unfortunately, I did not find any in my fridge.  Steamed a bowl of rice and that was meal for dinner.... One dish meal....  Pumpkin reminds me of sweet potatoes...sweet after cooking... Another dinner meal consist of Sambal Fish, black pepper met and a hard boiled egg  I only boiled the egg, the other two dishes were "sponsored" by my neighbour... LOL...
