Cucuk Udang Impiana Hotel And Yam Balls, Gunong Rapat

TIME FOR IPOH SNACKS AND TEA TIME...  It has been ages since I last post about Ipoh delights?  I am now quietly sitting down in the comfort of my own nutshell, screened through the photo folder in my handphone a moment ago to see what are in store for today's post...

Looking at the photo below, the tea time snack was taken in Impiana Hotel, Jalan Gopeng.  One fine afternoon my friend took me to meet up with the hotel manager, they were old friends from yesteryears and while they had their conversation, I was happily enjoying the hotel's famous cucuk udang.  Seems that the GM was particular about the taste of the cucuk udang, he wanted to bring back the hotel's signature snacks, he took the trouble to eat in several stalls.... and finally, he got the "right" taste back....
For a plate of the special Cucuk Udang that comes with a cup of hot coffee or tea,
it is RM12 ...
As for me, I can skip the tea...
This plate of CU is more than enough for me...
Crispy at the sides and insides filled with prawns, celery, onions and spring onions..
The taste is somehow different from the ones I used to eat in my canteen.  :p
In another place, another time, I went to Gunong Rapat roadside to have some snacks...
This stall which is located just outside the village hall sells Laksa among other things..
I love their Laksa and too bad I didn't take a picture of it...
In fact I forgotten all about it when the bowl appeared in front of me!
But I remember to take this kacang snack from a stall just next to the Laksa one....
This is something new to me too...
Wu Tau Yuen aka Yam Balls!
First time I heard of them... and being foodie adventurous, I ordered a plate... RM6
Beneath the Yam Balls laid some greens.. Kangkung...
I like the sauce... I like the Yam Balls... I like the greens....
I must go there again one weekend!!

  8. I think I need to do a day trip to Ipoh again just to eat and tapao the yam balls. Looks so delicious! I like to eat cucur udang too and the best ones were the ones I ate in my secondary school canteen. Now I cannot find back that taste, so sad.

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...
Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch here in …

Caring And Sharing At Limestone, Regal Lodge, Ipoh

IMPROMPTU GATHERING.... Nothing was planned beforehand, it was only at the last minute that we received call to have lunch at Limestone Cafe, inside Regal Lodge.  It was my first time there to have set lunch.  The menu prices were reasonable, around RM15.90 for the main dish, RM3 for a bowl of soup and RM2 for ice cream.  Other than that, coffee, tea and soft drinks are free.
We were there not so much for the food but for the ambiance... we practically had the whole cafe to ourselves during that lunch hour.  Only one or two tables were occupied and we spent more than two hours there since it was a Friday long hour lunch for my working colleagues.  After a few months absence from me, it was wonderful to catch up with my ex-colleagues again!
I was super hungry by lunch time and I felt like eating almost anything in the menu. We ended up ordering one main dish each and then sharing them with one another so that we could taste a bit of this and that.....
I felt like eating Aglio Oli…

Famous Wanton Mee At New Hoong Kee, Bandar Sri Damansara

BREAKFAST FEAST..  Best meal of the day is always my first meal because I know I am able to tuck in as much as my stomach can accept.  I eat a lot in the mornings and then slowly dwindle by the end of the day.  As the saying goes, eat like a king in the morning and like a pauper in the evenings.  This is what I normally do nowadays, not because I wanted to, but it is my own body system that tune me this way.  Though I deny I am old but the body says otherwise... LOL...

On this morning, we went to New Hoong Kee in Bandar Sri Damansara, my sibling said this is currently his favourite place.  And after trying, I know why.... the food we ordered, all turned out good and tasty, even the curry reminded me of my good old days!
Managed to catch the name otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell this story now...  My type of curry... I can go without the chicken... Just the other ingredients will do fine for me.. I like the way they cook this curry... Heard the BBQ pork is tasty too... melt in …
