The Laksa By The Drain

Immediately after dropping our bags in the hotel room, we adjourned to Air Itam for the famous laksa...  No time wasted, haze might loom over Penang soon... LOL... this time I drove cos my son had to go to college at 2pm.... Actually I was not sure of the way to Air Itam but using my "mental" GPS, somehow or rather, we managed to reach there without losing our way....
Air Itam Market, just right opposite to the Famous Laksa stall...
The sun was shining bright... no haze yet on Saturday....
My sister used to call this... The Laksa by the drain....
crowded as usual...
but once you get a seat, the laksa will come within 5 minutes!
Very fast service....
this is called THE LAKSA...
Now RM4.00 already!
(forgotten to tell them not to put prawn paste!)
After messing mixing them up, the Laksa became like this....
I prefer them to be sourish...
but with the prawn paste, it became a bit sweetish....

I wanted some "sun tan" so I stood under the sun a bit longer... hehehee...
Then we drove to this Chinese Medical Hall to get some Chinese herbs...
Bought a few packets of herbs and the owner was so nice...
Treated us to some Balik Pulau Durians!
Forgot to take some pictures... too busy eating the durians, I guess! LOL...

A One Night Stay In B-Suite, Penang

Had a short getaway from Ipoh to Penang yesterday with my friends, just for one night.... This time I can sit back and relax, I have a young driver to do the two hours drive... We reached our B-Suite Hotel around 11am... pretty early and hoping that they had a room ready for us... unfortunately no, they haven't cleaned up the rooms yet cos all were fully occupied during the weekend, according to the front people. True or not, we had to adjourn for our breakfast and waited at the lobby for my son to turn up....
Waiting at lobby for son....
Meanwhile took some pictures of the hotel....
B-Suite is in Bukit Jambul area...
Penang is still very sunny and... of course, hot!
But thank God... no haze ... as yet....
Front entrance...
Room rate for me is RM135 nett....
After our breakfast, the room was ready...
the B-suite...
Big and Spacious....
wondering why it was not named A-suite...
Two single beds... four of us squeezed into... hahahaa...
and the scenery from the window....
After putting our stuff and cooling down, we went out again..
No time wasted... we proceeded to Air Itam...
(tomorrow's post!)

A Coming Event

Actually there will be an event going on next month and my cell group was involved with the worship during that function.  It is not a glamorous kind of event, it is kind of a mission event and we are still discussing on the songs and what instruments we are to bring along.  I hope we can come up with a nice microphone, something like this excellent usb microphone at musicians friend.  The portraying voice will certainly sounds better with such an advanced mike and we are really looking forward to this event.  Practice will start very soon and hope it will be successful....

Window Shopping In Bangkok Mall

Now I know why Bangkok city is so crowded, tourists are abundant everywhere... Firstly, the weather is great...hahahaa... hot enough!  Secondly, the city is really developed, lots of shopping malls here and there... thirdly, there are so many stalls inside the mall, you want high end, you have it... you want lower and cheaper stuff, they also have it... you can buy almost anything cheap from there.  So I sum Bangkok up... The city never sleeps.. you can EAT till stomach full and you can shop till you drop... hahhhaaa...

After the city day tour, we requested to be dropped off at a shopping mall.  It was time for lunch!  We came by to this Food Republic and walked around, looking for our own special food.  But firstly, we must buy a Cash Card from the counter.... and the stalls will debit the cost of food from the card...

Food Republic in the mall....
Cheap and Nice food here too!
Very nice and neat too....
Not Pizza hut but Pizza Company here!
Wonder if it is the same...

So much to see and do here...
But no buying anything as yet....
You can even take picture with celebrities here...
For instance, Britney Spears??

Hot Travels In Bangkok

Managed to dig up some old pictures, my second trip to Bangkok. My first time was in the 1980s during my honeymoon. Second time round, no more with my Honey but with my Fernie...

We arrived late in the evening, in fact it was almost 8pm when we reached the hotel... and we were taken to this dining place here...
Sara Jane Dining Restaurant...
The next day we joined a half day city tour....
and we were taken to this City Temple...
Entrance fees was 100bahts if not mistaken...
Our Thai tour guide... gentle lady...
We have to take off our shoes....
and of course we need to wear decently...
My girl was given a green robe to wear cos she was wearing a sleeveless dress...

Blazing hot weather and we forgot to bring our caps...
Bangkok is a very busy city...
regardless of Day
Or....
Night....
Reminds me of our own city, Kuala Lumpur....

Moral Of The Story: Slow Down, Woman...

My back is "killing" me.... I must have sprained it somewhere... and I suddenly recalled that it must be due to the two giant 5KG of Labour detergent I bought  in Jaya Jusco.  In each hand I suddenly lifted up the 2 Big Detergent bottles that weighed a total of 10KG... it was all too sudden... from the floor I just bend down and lifted them up...... and ......  now I am facing the consequences.

The pain on my back right is now "thumping" me... plaster after plaster I put to relieve the pain but to no avail.  Yoko Ono also didn't do it right either....I just came back from my badminton session and hope no more pain tomorrow...

AIYAK!!
my poor back after being "spooned" to take out the "wind" ...

Moral of the story:  Don't do things hastily at my age... no more like a springy chicken...

Live Band

During one of our cell meetings, one of the members suggested that we form a music band so that we can perform in some functions whenever there is a need to.  Well, I am all for it, the first one to put my hands up!  LOL... So far, we have an organist and a guitarist.  I can always play the tambourine but it would be great to add in and have a good lefty taylor ga4 acoustic at guitar center so that the music will be "enhanced" in a way.  Perhaps I will have to get one nice acoustic guitar since I already know the basics, it shouldn't be a problem to learn up more. Ahemmm...  As for the singers, there shouldn't be a problem too, we have two sopranos in our group.  The more we talk about it, the more excited we become and I think we will have a live band very soon!

Where Am I in 2025

9 MONTHS!  I have been away from this blog for so long... (I thought it was more than a year)  So much have happened and I do not know where...
