Emotionally Drained, Spiritually Strengthened..

One of my church friends just called me... family problem propped up and was spiritually dry, asking why... why problems never cease to end?

I did not know what to say to her but this... "We face these type of problems so that when we can be a "comforter" to others when they are in this type of situation. God allows it to happen to us for a reason, we have God with us, others may not have... we can overcome, others may not... "

Giving words of encouragement is easy ... but the one who is facing the problem now will find it hard to accept. She kept asking, "Why, why.....why....? I have done so much for the church, for God..."

Being a Christian does not mean smooth sailing, in fact, it is more like a tough sail... but then we have God with us, in us and for us. For when we are weak, then we are strong, right?

Makes sense to me... for when we have gone through hard times, we will feel stronger emotionally and spiritually....

  2. I believed that God allows challengers in our life so that our faith in Him are strong.

God will bring us through our challengers in His time.

Now, I too faced some challengers in my life. I quitted my job because of the constant verbal abuse and negativity I received from my ex boss daily. I believed that God will provide me a new job.

"When the oceans rise and thunder storms, I will rise with you above the storms, Father, You are King above the storms, I will be still and know you are God".

  4. I remembers one of my care group member told us that when we are suffering we needed God. Imagine if you gave a good life where everything is provided for...do u still need God?

  7. Yes, you are so right!! When this lady says how much she's done for the church, that's wonderful. But look at Stephen, Paul, and the other apostles, how they suffered as well. And of course Jesus himself. I'm thinking you are a good listner and a good counselor! What church are you going to?

  10. Just prove oneself is tough so he/she must go thru the hurdles patiently... and beautiful days will follow! This is what I think :-)

  11. TRUE....I also believe God allows circumstances to come into our life so that we can gain from the experience one way or another.

In all things thank God. Hope your friend can see things that way too. Service to God is our gratitude to Him who gave us His Son.

  12. Hi Reana, we enjoy warmth because we have been cold. We appreciate light because we have been in darkness.
By the same token, we can experience joy because we have known sadness.

Our life will always have its hiccups, and roller coaster rides, and the very strong will survive, with hope, faith and prayer.....and abit of luck.

And what you mentioned is very true re 'smooth sailing'. Even the Queen of flowers has thorns, ready to draw blood to the unwary. No road is straight or without bumps....

And yes, only thru experience do we grow stronger.
And I have been down that path before....
    Best regards, Lee.

  13. dora: as the saying goes.. got ups and downs in one life..see how we can overcome them.. time will heal too..

ann: true true. as long as we continue to stay faithful...

U.Lee: i believe you when u said you have been to that path before.. all of us have to.. in one way or another, we got to face hurdles before us..

  15. To me, I felt that everything happens for a reason. Every family will have their own problems and some just dealt with it better than the others. Just ask her to think positive and she will then attract the positive things. The more negative she is, the harder life would be.

  16. caroline: when we go thru trials, they made us a stronger person than we never thought we were..

kiasumom: true true.. think positive but sometimes we r not in that position to tell.. i m also the worrying type of person, wanting to settle things fast otherwise i tend to tense up too.. sigh..

  24. Accept all trials and tribulations in our lives as penance. Jesus died on the cross for our sins so it is only right that we carry our own little crosses too. Give thanks and praise for whatever little blessings that come our way and there are many, I'm sure... We only need to open our eyes and see. Think positive!

  25. That's a good way to think when you're facing a problem. Funny it never occurred to me that "he" could be using me as an example so that I could comfort others. I will try to remember that.
