Vietnamese Dinner At Vnam Kitchen, Ipoh

THE HEAVY THUNDERSTORM STOPPED IN TIME... It was almost 6pm when the rain gave way for us to go out for dinner.   No cooking for that evening, we have eaten all the "rice" in the bucket and I had not replenished it as yet then.  We did not have any idea on what to eat, we drove to Ipoh Garden East and looked for vegetarian food but it was not opened.  Went to another shop but the food did not look "attractive."

So frustrated... and I thought Ipoh has a lot of good food?  Yes, it certainly does have lots of nice and yummy food, so most probably the reason is that both of us are fussy eaters!  What I want might not be what she likes... I am a meaty person and she is a vegetable girl... what contrast!

Anyway, after some driving here and there, we ended up eating not local food but Vietnamese food for our dinner.  Both of us readily agreed when we happened to pass by this Vnam Kitchen at Jalan Seenivasagam, opposite Overseas Restaurant.  This is the second time I visited this Vietnamese restaurant.
We were the second customers there upon entering... 


We shared a glass of Dragonfruit juice.. RM8.90
Then the condiments arrived... 
Sweet and sour noodles soup for my girl... RM12.90
Eggs and meat inside the soup.... 
I have the Pho for myself... 
Goes well with the basil leaves and lots of lime... 
My order came with grilled chicken and pork... RM13.90
For our side dish, we have these paper rice wraps... 
No meat inside... 
Dip it generously into the plate of sauce... 
And it would taste a lot better... 
For our dinner, the bill came to RM45... 
Cannot afford to eat like this all the time...
Reanaclaire's Kitchen must be reopened before I go broke!

    If you really open a Reanaclaire's Kitchen, I will drive all the way to support you in Ipoh. Nice name for a restaurant.... open lah.

    Go broke?? You kidding me lah as you will be packing your bags again and flying around the world. Where is next?

      You can start from your own home first and no rental..
      Do you know that the successful chain of Delicious started from their homes and the guests were their friends who paid a certain price and they had to eat what the chefs served. The rest is history and Delicious was later sold to a listed company for a handsome price making the founders overnight millionaires!

    RM45 for 2 bowls of noodles, a drink and a roll is good, like the price here. what is the thing that looks like meat in segment 1 of the roll?

      Looks like beancurd skin to me... cos supposed to be vege only.. no meat...

    I enjoy Vietnamese food and must revisit Du Viet to eat the beef pho.

      Most vege are raw and that is the best part to dip inside the hot soup..

    I know I'll love this place. I love ASEAN and Indian cuisines, anytime nicer than the countries up north or to the west!!!

    Food looks good. I've not been to this restaurant though I know of its existence. Somehow hubby favours Thai food more than Vietnamese.

    It may have been expensive, but this may be the most beautiful restaurant I have seen you eat in!! The water lilies on the wall are so gorgeous, and the dishes are plated so beautifully. What a good choice you made. I KNOW your problem! Anne Marie is a vegetarian, so she cannot eat at places that we all like. It is hard finding spots that we all like.

    Not easy to find Vietnamese food or restaurants over here. Haha. When think of Vietnamese cuisine, pho and spring rolls come into my mind.

    I like the water lily decor. So colourful.

      Over here in Ipoh, there are only a selective few only.. maybe less than 5..

    if i'm not mistaken, there are 3 vietnamese restaurants in this road. Try the 1 called "vietnam diem hen". They serve banh mi or vietnamese sandwiches and they make their own bread in the kitchen. One of my favourite tea time places to go for a nice simple sandwich and some strong vietnamese coffee.
