Short And Long Flight To San Francisco

ALL MY BAGS ARE PACKED... it's time to fly....

I like flying via SIA, this time my flight from Penang to Singapore was at noon.  The plane was on schedule and it landed at Changi airport terminal 3 around 1.30pm.  From Terminal 3, I took a skytrain to Terminal 1 to have my free lunch and to linger around there for at least four hours before my next flight.

As usual, I ordered the Hainamese chicken rice at the Plaza Premium lounge, their menu seems to be standardized.  Rice, vegetable noodles and curry laksa noodles and I always opt for the chicken rice, followed by the vegetables with noodles.  I wouldn't want to risk having stomach upset eating curry while in flight.

Since I have four hours to while away, I registered with the counter to request for the shower room as well.  Might as well freshened myself up since it was a long flight of around 13-14 hours.  LOL...

The flight to San Francisco was at 8pm, we were served dinner onboard before the lights turned out for us to sleep through the long flight.  As for me, I watched a few movies, dozing in and out a few times... sigh... I never like the long flight... the only thing encouraging is my grandkids' faces... otherwise....

Time to go in....
Bye Penang for now...
My favourite chicken rice at the lounge...
Second round.. noodles in vege soup....
Watching my movie while eating...
Desserts to complete my meal...
Soon it was time to board the plane for the long flight...

Last Stop To The Golden Gate Bridge

MADE ONE LAST STOP AT THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE....

Oh, before going to the Golden Gate Bridge, my friend suggested going to Lombart Street, known as the "Crookedest Street" in the world!

I have not been there before and I did not know what to expect.  And when my son drove his big vehicle down the street,  I had to close my eyes and tried not to scream.  I couldn't see the road from where I was sitting, it was just like a roller coaster, a narrow road with eight sharp hairpin turns!  And not only that, my son had to go down the steep road two times.... If I had known, I would rather walk down the steps to the bottom of the road with my friend on the first round.  Since she did not sit in the car to experience, we had to go the second time.  *shudder*

After the Lombart experience, we proceeded to the Golden Gate Bridge... actually the bridge is not golden in colour, it is named not for its hue but for its location, as Mr. Google says.  It is built above the Golden Gate Strait, hence the name golden.... Though it looks red, but the actual colour is called "international orange."

There it is....
We had to walk quite a distance from our car to see this bridge...
I think we took the wrong route to park our car...
But then we would not see this scene if we parked the right one....
t
This is what I meant.... superb scenery on the wrong route....
Good exercise....
A long walk....
One to remember that we are here.... together!

Dropping By At Pier 39 in San Francisco

FEW DAYS BEFORE FLYING...

My son came to fetch both of us back to his home in San Jose, in less than a week, we had to fly back to our own country.  It was a three months trip for me and a month of traveling for my friend.  She came with one big suitcase and went back with an extra big one borrowed from my sister!  LOL... And both suitcases were full to the brim and she has to leave some of her "unused" stuff behind, such as her big pair of boots!

Two days before we left, my son took us to Pier 39 in San Francisco.  I had not been here before, heard that this place is one of the tourist spots in SF, so we must make a visit here before leaving.  We left early in the morning and we reached Pier 39 in less than an hour.

From the parking lot, we had to pass this overhead bridge to the pier...
Blue skies but cold weather....
We took turns carrying our little man cos he doesn't like stroller....
Everywhere it is Pier 39...
Let's go and have fun!
Our little man was not keen....
Tourist-ing around the area....
Lovers' Locks....
We made this instead....
Behind us is the Alcatraz Island...
An ultimate maximum security prison during the hey-days..
Now it stands as a tourist spot...
To go on a ferry round the island cost $99...
Hence the picture to save cost...
LOL....
One must not leave Pier 39 without stopping by here...
Famous for its sourdough bread...
Clam Chowder.... and it was really good!
Forgot what the filling is in this burger....
Fried Calamari
And mini-sized fish n chips....

Our Late Dinner In San Francisco

SECOND DINNER AT ST JOSE at a Chinese restaurant.  Unlike Aberdeen, Asian food is easily accessible over here in California.  You name it, they almost have it... Lol...
It was late at night when we went for our dinner, almost 8pm... and the thing is, I cannot remember the name of the shop,we went into.  We quickly ordered and waited patiently for the food.  The below food were all finished except for the long sandwich bun....
Pickled vegetable soup...
Hot and appetizing....
Hot soupy warms our tummies...
Eggplant...
This is their special..
Something like Vietnamese....
Stir fry beef with lots of onions...
This dinner cost around $50 for the four of us....

British Airways Carried Me To Golden Bridge

LANDED SAFELY IN SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT after 11 hours of flight from BA.  Took us more than three hours to get through immigration, a very long queue indeed!  By then it was almost 7pm and we headed home to a home cooked hot pot.  What a warm welcome to our hungry tummies....
Very welcoming dinner... especially
after the long flight and the food on BA is just not for me..
The next day... we were here...
Overlooking The Golden Bridge..
Watching the sun set....
Just unbelievable....

I really feel I was kind of dreaming...
Thank God for His Wonderful Mercies!

Take Me Home, Cathay Pacific

ALL OUR BAGS ARE PACKED... WE ARE READY TO GO... WE'RE STANDING HERE OUTSIDE THE DOOR....
Yes, our bags are all safely tucked into the Expedition... all ready to be flown back to where we belong, back to our country, Malaysia.. back to our home sweet home after Three Whole Months holiday in the land of aplenty, as my BIL used to say...

The day has finally arrived to bade goodbye to my longest ever holiday overseas... Yes, I do miss home, no doubt about that... And now I am home, I miss the white land, the food, the weather, the shopping, the traveling and of course, the homely welcome and hospitality that is the most important of all... Staying there is just like a second home to me, I would not hesitate to come again and again if I have the ... 1)  Time  2)  Money   3)  Health... that is the most important factor of all!
Really Appreciate these guys struggling to squeeze our six luggage into the back...
While we ladies still linger around and take photos even at the last moments here...
See... never ending poses....
We will miss you....
Hope we meet again real soon....
This was taken after the 13 hours flight from San Francisco to Hongkong....
It was drizzling when we landed in HK....
Transit hours is only two... so we just lingered around at the airport...
It was 6.40am in Hongkong...
Another two hours to go before boarding again...
Back to Home Sweet Home....
Bye US.. Hello Malaysia!
