Birthday Celebration At Loon Sing Restaurant, Johor

WE CELEBRATED A FEW DAYS EARLY for Andy's birthday, the actual day is a weekday so it was not so convenient for those who are still under employment.... LOL...

I asked the birthday boy where he wanted to go and have his big feast and he suggested Loon Sing Restaurant.  Well, seems that his choice suited his sister real fine too, both of them and their spouses love the food there.

As far as I can remember, this restaurant served Hockchew food, a few years ago they had red wine chicken and the noodles were fried differently, with peanuts as toppings.  Anyway, according to the staff, they do not have these in the menu already, maybe different owner/chef now.

I let my son did the ordering, since it was his big day, let him enjoy eating his favorite dishes.  We also invited his in-laws to the dinner, they are very friendly people and I always get to eat their homecooked dinner every time I am in Johor.

Dishes we enjoyed on that evening....
The main attraction is the one facing the camera...
BBQ pork ribs...
Tung Po Yuk eaten with Mantau dumplings...
Lots of collogen...
Claypot sea delicacies...
Two types of prawns...
Cereal and buttered on each side...
Mixed vegetables...
Total cost RM500 plus...
And one to remember us on this day.....
LOL...

To South For Dinner At Lao Er Steamed Beehoon, Johor

DOWN SOUTH.....

Flew from Penang International airport to Senai, Johor at 8.10am via Air Asia.  It was only an hour flight and definitely much better and cheaper than driving.
And here I am all ready to fly.... LOL...

Son picked us up from airport at around 9.30am and off we went for our breakfast which I did not take any pictures.  Come evening, we went out for dinner at a new shop which my son recommended, something new, something different.  The dishes were all kind of "steamed" ... no dark sauce nor oil whatsoever.  They did not look appealing but I do welcome dishes such as these, if possible, I refrain from taking oily food.
It was raining when we reached LaoEr Steamed Beehoon

We ordered these for 4 adults 1 toddler...
Steamed meehoon with salted fish meatloaf...
so it is called... RM17.90
Steamed meehon with ginger chicken.... RM15.90
Steamed Meehoon with ginger fish.... RM18.90
With curry chicken RM15.90
This is called Dad Style Lady Fingers...RM9.90
Don't ask me why....
I ordered because I like okra...
Lotus peanut soup which I love very much... RM10.90
And these were our dinner on the first night....
Total cost RM105 including drinks...
After dinner, everyone looks happy!
Not so sure about the one who paid the bill....
LOL....

Our Day Ended At Loon Seng Restaurant, Bukit Indah, Johor

THIRD NIGHT DINNER...

After the wedding reception, we had a light refreshment at the beach.  They served cakes, cream puffs, egg tarts, cookies and drinks.  Too bad I did not take any pictures of those snacks, all were so tasty that I must be busy eating and mingling around!  Fascinated and captivated by the beach and all, the weather was cooling and nice... hmmm... we should have booked one night and stayed in the hotel!

However, we did not cos we had to drive back to town for the dinner which was held in Loon Seng Restaurant.  It was another half hour away and since it was near to our home, we did not book a night at the Forest City.  Maybe the next round.... hopefully they would not increase the rate much by then...

To our surprise the restaurant was quite full, filled with other patrons.... one big giant table can only seat 8 persons max.  There were only 7 of us at our table and dishes were aplenty... These are the dishes served...

BBQ Pork ribs....
Braised vegetables with sea cucumber among other varieties...
Vegetarian curry....
3 cups chicken...
Mini french beans...
Salad prawns...
I like this dish....
Braised pork with dumplings....
A brighter version of the fats...LOL...
Foochow noodles...
Something different from Ipoh...
And dessert is Lotus Pancake....
Our three nights stay in Johor came to an end...
Early next morning we packed our bags and bade....
Bye, Bye Johor...
Till we meet again the next time!

Wedding Event At The Marina Forest City, Johor

WALKING AROUND.... From the hotel room, we walked to the lobby and on the left side of the hotel, there is a small shopping area.  There was no crowd and it was nice walking around.  I was surprised to see two shops selling duty free goods but the sign there written, "whatever bought must finished within in Forest City."  So I did not end up buying anything.  I should have cos they never really checked our car when we drove out from the Forest City.  LOL.. Next time, perhaps!

After attending the wedding function at 5pm near the beach, we left Forest City around 7pm... Of course, we took numerous pictures here and there as if we were the special guests! LOL... Very nice ambience and location to hold a beach wedding.  Just too bad that Mr. Covid is in season otherwise this Forest City would be very popular.
We walked around the garden wedding just in front of the beach...
Very nice venue to hold a wedding...
Putting final touches...
A simple white cake for decor...
The dolphins from near...
They are actually "red grass".. is there such a word?
At another area of the beach front...
The tourist walking here and there....

A Visit To Marina Hotel Forest City, Johor

HERE WE COME...  Using Waze, we drove a half hour journey to Forest City, a popular resort which was the talk of the town, but unfortunately due to the pandemic, everything seems to be at a standstill.  They are having a promo in Marina Forest City Hotel, for only RM199 for a spacious room, a king size bed, a long sofa and a huge bathroom, this rate also includes 3 meals!  Breakfast, high tea and either lunch or dinner, our own choice.  Oh, this is not a sponsored post... I am just relating what I know and they have this promo banner displayed at the lifts!

We went in to have a look at the room... yes, we like it very much!  However we did not stay there, maybe the next time when we go Johor again... though the promo rate will not be around once the economy picks up.  Sad to see that everything is affected, hope this pandemic will be over soon!  Really yearn for our lives to be back to normal like before...
There are 3 hotels just next to each other...
Our destination is Marina Hotel....
At the lobby.... very huge and spacious...
Reception area....
Scenery from the 10th floor of the hotel corridor...
The condos and the villas... wonder whether they are occupied....
A small jetty below....
Can even see Singapore from where we stood....
The spacious bed....
Even the bathroom was spacious.... bathtub on one side...
And the shower on the other side... with the toilet which was hidden on the left...
The love birds...
My friend taught me how to do this... hahaha...
Not sure I can still remember...
Scenery from the balcony....
Not bad, right?
On this side... they have these...
Whales? Dolphins or someone mentioned they looked like "cicak?"
oh no....
What do these look like to you?
After a short rest, we came down to walk around the vicinity....
