Our Late Lunch At Yes Restaurant, Taiping

ONE DAY TRIP... To Penang and on the way back to Ipoh, we stopped by in Taiping to have our late lunch.  My friend recommended us to go to Yes Restaurant, Jalan Regat, Taiping and using Waze, we managed to find the place in no time.  On the way we made a call to the restaurant to confirm whether they still served lunch cos it was around 2.30pm when we reached Taiping.  And Yes, they do open until 9pm at night.... and these were the dishes we ordered at Yes Restaurant on that day...

Highly recommended by my friend was this claypot fish cooked with yam....
My opinion?
I like the fish... they were very fresh....
However, the gravy would be taste better if there is less black pepper...
The black pepper is a bit too strong for me....
Their own signature beancurd....
Goes well with white rice...
Sambal Kangkung...
Caught this unexpectedly....
Three dishes for the four of us....
And we were taken by surprise by the bill...
It came to only RM44 in total....
Very reasonable, we agree...
Perhaps one day we might drop by again when we go for our foodie trail to Taiping...

Xin Seafood Village At Kuala Sepetang

DAY OUTING.... To the valleys, Kuala Sepetang and Taiping town.

Started off the one hour journey without breakfast in Ipoh, leaving more space in our tummies for food in Kuala Sepetang.  Just a glass of fresh fruit juice in the morning and off we went.  Drove one round in Taiping town and then it was almost 11am.  By then my stomach was already calling for "Food, food... please" ... and from Taiping, another 15 minutes drive to Kuala Sepetang.

Stopped at a fish village to get some of dried seafood stuff.... four of us ended up buying a few packets each.... and from there, we walked to the nearby open air Xin seafood restaurant facing the river bay.  We ordered a few dishes including crabs and I was surprised that the price was quite reasonable...
This is Kuala Sepetang, a small fishing village near Taiping...
The dried stuff being dried under the hot sun...
Salted fish in making....
I like to eat salted fish but have not done so for a long time already
after hearing and reading so much about them....
And from Xin restaurant, the fishing village could be seen....
Fishing boats at dock....
Very patriotic too...
As for the food....
Fried prawns...
Sambal Kangkung....
Oyster omelette....
Cuttlefish with dried chillies...
Noodles for two but it came out in such a big portion...
Steamed crabs...
Halfway through the meal....
Yes, mostly are leftovers... they are not wasted though...
We finished the crabs but not the rest....
The remainder were taken back for dinner....
Meal above cost around RM118...
We eat, we buy.... and soon...
Bye Bye!

Seafood Lunch At Kuala Sepetang And Desserts In Taiping

TEPI SUNGAI... is the name of the shop where we went for our seafood lunch.  With tummies three quarter full already, we did not order any carbs to go along with our meal.  We just settled for a few dishes and that was it.  Now I know why elderly people do not eat much....cos now I am feeling the same way!  So nowadays I eat moderately... ahemmm....

The scenery on the upper level...
Going out to the sea and bringing back the catch in the evening...
As for the food, we had fried wanton dumplings...
Steamed prawns....
Fried ones as well...
Assam "Chicken" Fish...
Sweet Sour Crabs...
And that was about all....
No carbs.. just these dishes and they cost around RM180...
Someone mentioned that we should not leave without taking Cendol...
And so we must...
Another temptation when we sat down....
Ipoh is selling at RM4... whereas this one is only below RM2....
Mission accomplished....
Finally... we can called it a day!

The Fishing Village At Kuala Sepetang

FISHING VILLAGE WALK...

I could not remember when my last visit to Kuala Sepetang was, out of curiosity, I searched for it in my own blog and found a few posts dated back in 2012!  Seriously, was it so long ago since I last visited Kuala Sepetang?  Then it is indeed time to pay a visit to this fishing village again and this time round, we came here to purchase some dried seafood stuff.  And while doing so, we walked around a bit to see how the drying process was done....
It was a hot sunny day.... even the workers were covered up completely....
The drying process of salted fish....
Small fishes being dried in the sun...
I like to take salted fish during my younger days...
They blend very well if eaten with plain porridge....
But I have never taken these before...
Maybe these are the ones cooked in curry?
After our purchases of dried shrimps, we continued on our way to the bay....
The Eagle!
No, we did not take our lunch in this shop...
We came by just to take some pictures....
At the jetty...
It was super hot on that day....
Time to run to the shade after all these were taken....
Time to Eat!

One Day Foodie Trail To Kuala Sepetang

STARTED OFF EARLY IN THE MORNING...  the six of us had our first meal at the Canning Garden Dim Sum.  We ordered some varieties just enough to last us for a couple of hours.   Our main itinerary of the day trip was a visit to Kuala Sepetang for a seafood meal so we did not want to "jam up" our tummies with the morning breakfast in Ipoh.   However... this did not happen as planned...

On the way using the old trunk road to Taiping, we passed by many durian stalls in this so-called place Bukit Gantang, famous for their durian orchards. Oh my goodness, I thought I was the only one tempted, but no.. all SIX of us are confirmed durian lovers!  Needless to say, we got to stop, somehow.... We must have our Fix on these, the intended-saving-space in our tummies were naturally forgotten!  LOL...
We wanted no famous names of the durians... no Musang, no Red Prawn, or Black Thorns...
All we wanted is those natural ones from original tall durian trees...
The Kampung Durians or Village Durians so it is translated...
This Makcik is very friendly and pleasant...
She makes sure we eat with satisfaction....
Original ones are made of these...
Those with worms at the side are a common sight...
And that means chemical-free... I suppose!
Helping ourselves with the durians, one after another...
Spent quite some time here satisfying ourselves with durians and mangosteens...
Before we continue our drive to Kuala Sepetang, Taiping....
