Yes, we reached Virginia City around noon.... my first visit to this gold mine cowboy town. John Denver's song Country Roads came to my mind when Virginia is mentioned. My sister and I did a video stint singing the chorus during our stop at the top of the mountains. When we listened back to our recording, all we heard was the strong wind blowing our voices away! LOL....
I didn't know what to expect in Virginia... I thought these cowboy towns do not exist anymore... I was wrong, I was told that during the summer, this place was full of tourists from all over the world but while we were there, the place was not crowded at all...
Virginia City... a birthplace of Mark Twain too, I got to know. The city retains an authentic history character with board sidewalks, and numerous restored buildings dated back to the 1860s and 70s. I get the feel of being "cowboy-ish" while I was there.... the bars, the sheriff, the wooden plank sidewalks, just like those TV shows like Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie...
The Last School Standing....
Inside the bar....
Here and there and everywhere... along the main road...
No horses in sight... so I "fly"....
Hitch a ride perhaps....
Lastly and not least...
A visit to Mark Twain museum before we left our footprints in Virginia...
