How I Pass Five Hours At Changi Airport

TWO FLIGHTS IN A DAY...

I started flying with SIA in 2019 and ever since, I always go for this airline for my own convenience.  Sometimes there are offers but most times, it is a bit more expensive than other airlines.  I like to take SIA because it stops over in Singapore and after that, all the way to San Francisco direct.  Furthermore, I don't feel so "alien" in Changi airport, after all, we are neighbours, right?  LOL....

My flight from Penang was at 11.50am and I reached the airport around 9.30, I had ample time to check in.  The flight from Penang to Singapore is around 1 hour 25 minutes and by the time I reached Singapore, it was almost 2pm.  I was very hungry by then and I quickly took a skytrain to terminal 1 where the plaze premium lounge is located.

My next flight from Singapore to San Francisco is around 7pm plus, and that is more than 5 hours for me to rest and relax.  I went into the lounge, chose a nice private cubicle to myself, took some food and watched a movie on my iPad.  Food and drinks are free flow and that is one of the reasons too, I like to layover in Changi!

At around 6.30pm, I walked to the gate which was just below the lounge, to my surprise!  I remember the last time I had to walk quite a distance to my gate.  No flight delay... and I always forget to take pictures of my seat and the aircraft food which have nothing to shout about really.  Even though they serve Asian noodles or rice, I just could not finish them except for the Haagan Diaz ice cream cup.  In the end, I always end up eating more snacks than snacks.  Watched a couple of movies  on and off while dozing in between with music in my ears to ward off the airplane noise.

Landed in San Francisco at around 8.15pm and I quickly made my way to the immigration, overtaking as many passengers as I could to avoid the long queue.  *kiasu me*  Surprisingly, the foreigners line was not as long as the citizens/PR line and I was cleared to go within 15 minutes.  Another surprise, the trolley was free this time!  Cost me $8 to get one for my bags the last time...

Anyway, Thank God I have a smooth journey and immigration process was fast.... I will be here for a couple of months, not so much to travel but to be homebound!  LOL....
Checked in my two big bags...
And only settled for the backpack on my back...
Bye Penang... for now....
Singapore, here I come....
My private cubicle at the Plaza Premium Lounge...
First round... Chicken Rice...
Small portion just nice for me...
Then my second round..
Noodles soup and some condiments....
No third round... I was full by then...
See you again in a couple of months!

Shiki Hototogisu Ramen Before Flying Home

BYE BYE SINGAPORE...  My flight was in the evening around 6pm plus.

After checking out from the hotel at 1pm, we took a Grab ride to the airport.  Lingered around for a few hours and managed to grab a meal before departing.

Shiki Hototogisu Ramen is the name, for the three of us, we ordered two bowls.  Good that we just ordered two, when the food arrived, I was thinking how I could finished that big portion of noodles!
Dry version with braised pork ribs...
Soup ramen with fried chicken...
Tastes so good!
Silky beancurd to go with the noodles...
And Ready To Fly....
Bye Dears...
See you again some day soon!

Lady M, At Your Service

I AM WHERE YOU ARE... when it comes to desserts...

And the place was called Lady M, sounds like a royalty name for a dessert place which serves all kinds of crepes.  We ordered two pieces to try and we sat there for quite some time to relax and chill....

And I was lost for choices....
Which would you end up ordering?
Ended up with these two...
The many fine layers of crepe....
And more walking after that....
And to take pictures as we walked along...

Korean Dinner At SBCD Singapore

LAST MEAL FOR THE DAY... finally... before we took a Grab ride back to our Ji Hotel.

This is what holiday is about, going around as tourists and eating anytime, anywhere...

We ended the day with Korean food at SBCD Tofu House.  Supposed to be famous for their beancurd but I don't remember ordering any for our dinner that night. In fact I was quite full from the day's food galore that I just took a bit of everything served on the table.

Taken at where we were seated..
A bit of this and that were served...
We ordered two combo sets....
Each of us were served a fish...
Korean seafood pancake which I like very much...
The pork belly too was sweet and savoury...

And our set dinner for the evening came to around $120...

Playing Tourist And More Food In Singapore City

MORE WALKING TO DO... otherwise we could not tuck in as much as we wanted to....

From Orchid Hotel, we took a long walk around the vicinity, we were at the town area where old and new buildings are located side by side.

This is an iconic location....
I was told we must take a picture of this...
And so I did....
The next thing I know...
I was here at this food court....
Was told that they served the best steamed chicken here.....
Well, being an Ipohian, I shall not comment further....
LOL....
More walking....
And soon we were having tea at a cafe...
A name which I have forgotten again....
Two Latte....
One Expressor not in pic....
As for me, I have Chamomile....
and these to share.....
Three quarters of the day passed...
But our food tour has yet to end....

Ya Ge Restaurant At Orchid Hotel

SECOND ROUND OF THE DAY...

After our Ya Kun bread-fast, we walked around for a bit before having our second meal of the day at a special place called Ya Ge restaurant at Orchid Hotel.  I remember I have been to this hotel once, not to stay but to the parking lot only.  LOL... Yes, my son parked the car there few years before but not to eat at this restaurant.  LOL...

Since our tummies were still full from the Ya Kun bread in the earlier part of the day, we did not order much at Ya Ge.  I was told that this special place served exquisite dumplings aka "siew loong pau" .... yes, indeed they were very special.  At this time of posting, I have forgotten what were inside these six dumplings, each of them consist of six different flavors altogether.  I should have known better, being a senior, I should have make a note somewhere, right?

Yes, six different flavors...
Let me test my memory a bit...
Starting from the blue one...
Oh dear, I cannot remember.....
But I do know there is the normal original flavor...
Then Tomyam, Bak Kut Teh,
Aiyoh...
I guess that is all I could remember...
Blame my memory loss on Covid!
For the four of us.....
Yes, more than enough...
Another Yes for Good Taste too!
My friend ordered these too....
With Yam fillings...
Cute chicks....
I consumed one of them!
Their set of Scallop Siew Mai is also special...
With these dishes, my tummy was filled to the fullest...
Really, I must go for a long walk before any more consumption!
Before we left... yes, it was kind of quiet....
Another fine dining meal, I would say...
Thanks to the youngsters who led the way and gave us a scrumptious treat!
