Curry Prawn Noodles In Pusing

INTERSTATE ALLOWED.... and that does not mean it is safe to go all out.  I think the government allowed interstate traveling, mainly because it helps to boost up the economy.  Many business are affected because of the restriction, especially those in the tourism line.  Food business are badly affected in Ipoh, everywhere seems to be quiet, no more queues as in those days.  Though that is pretty fine for us locals, I guess it is not that fine with those depend mainly on tourists.

The needle cannot be sharp on both ends, as the saying goes.  I am expecting busier roads from now on, especially during weekends.  People will travel interstate for a change of scenery and of food, as for me, I will sit down quietly at home during this weekend.  It is still not safe to go about especially crowded areas, just go out when it is really necessary.  This will be our normal life from now on.....

One time when Perak was green zone, we went all out to eat.... even to Pusing which was half an hour away from our place.  My friend recommended this curry prawn noodles stall, located on the Main Road in Pusing.  Not sure I have put this up or not.... it has been a couple of months ago even if I did... LOL....
Something we could not get in Ipoh...
Curry Prawn Noodles... RM8
Not very spicy so it is fine with me....
The prawns are fresh too...
Homemade beancurd with fish paste fillings....
My kind of food....
Number taken from the stall....
Don't know when I can go for this again....
Have to wait till Perak is green zone once more....

Lunch For Three At Pusing Town

AFTER MY WRAPPED TREATMENT, IT WAS TIME TO GO FOR OUR LUNCH.. On the way from Batu Gajah, we stopped at a small town called Pusing. Along the main road, the popular shop where tourists normally go is the Ming Foong but we did not go there this time, we settled for some simple food at a corner open space concept just a few shops away.
There were a number of different stalls but most of them were already closed by lunch....
Only the rice section was available and we chose a few dishes for our meal....
Me and you and a walker named Boo....
Papaya juice to cool us down...
Stinky beans aka petai sauteed with minced pork...
Bitter gourd with eggs....
And fish slices with ginger and spring onions....
Three dishes plus rice for the three of us came to RM45....
Yes, we took some appetizer before the main dishes arrived!!
Yes, this is the One...
Our tummies were fully stuffed...
Indeed a very heavy lunch!!
*Writing this reminds me, I must do more exercise*

My Negative Food Review

I think this will be our last time we had lunch in Ming Foong restaurant here in Pusing. It was not our first time but after yesterday, I don't think I wanna come back here again. My kids agreed too...

this is the shop we went to.... Ming Foong
Either we didn't know how to order or the chef now is not as good as those years before. No more Omphh. Okay, before I review further, I want to state that this is my only from my personal point of view....

I ordered their famous fried wan ton...
when they came out, they were so pathetic looking
and not at all appetizing...
I think I can wrap up better than that..

vege was alright.. fresh...

ginger sliced fish was not tasty..
they should use young ginger but unfortunately..
the ginger were older than me..

sing chow meehoon...
the meehoon was hard and tough
they were not "soaked" long enough...

fried rice.. sigh.. no comments..
i think i can do better...

this is sang har mee..
their signature dish... but then...
the supposedly big prawns were not there
but replaced with miniature size.. and not fresh!
the noodles was not the sang mee ..
but more like the wanton mee..
one word-Lousy!

nevertheless we finished it up without the real "omphh"
Bill came to RM77 for these few "un-attractive" dishes
Either we do not know what to order or
maybe we have higher expectations..
whatever it is, we will not purposely go all the way there to have our food again...

Independence Day In Pusing

Happy Independence Day to all of the Malaysians!

I was not born yet when Malaysia achieved her Independence from the British. (so not too old really! LOL) But few years later, I was born and since then I am considered a true bred Malaysian.. raised in Ipoh and have been staying here since... hopefully one day I can "uproot" myself and stay in some greener pastures on the other side of the unknown mountain.

Ok, enough crap...

Since today is a holiday, my kids and I woke up very late but by 11.30am, we were out from the house, driving using the coastal way this time... we made plans to go to Tanjung Tualang actually... but last minute, we heard from a friend saying that a few shops in TT were burnt in a fire. So our plans made a "detour" and we eventually ended up in Pusing.... about 40 minutes drive from our house.

Pusing is a small town...

the main road in Pusing

cars were aplenty but mostly parked
cos it was lunch time when we reached..
mostly everyone were in the shops having a 'feast'

it was a hot day.. and Peter Loh's soya bean
and bean curd dessert caught our eyes...

Girl having fun at the stall..
looks like she was manning the stall...

yes, truly she was.. helping Peter Loh...
and having fun too!

after our lunch and buying so much tidbits,
we continued on with our journey...
