A Fall At Bryce Canyon Utah

UP TO BRYCE CANYON...

The next morning after our simple breakfast at the inn, we ascended up the mountains, an hour journey drive and on the way, the scenery was spectacular.  Snow was everywhere and my brother-in-law had to use his driving skills to maneuver the vehicle.  On the way up, we stopped by several parts, either to take pictures or to answer nature calls.....

We had to be very careful when we walked on the snow.  One wrong slip and we could end up landing on our bumps.  That is not so serious, I mean landing on bumps... my friend slipped and bumped her head on the ground!  Ouchhh.....

As I mentioned before, she is more on the adventurous kind and I, on the other hand, would not want to take chances.  (I have fractured my leg TWO times so I know what I should do!)  I stayed back in the car while she walked up on a higher side to capture the scenery.  After some ten minutes or so, I saw her walking back to the car, with one hand rubbing her head continuously.... "Oh dear, something must have happened" I told my sister....

Yeah, she slipped and fell backwards while descending.... she told us two tourists helped her up...
Thank God, she did not vomit or any blurred vision or concussion throughout the day.  No more ascending or descending by foot after that, our shoes were not suitable for any snow walking....
Supposed to answer nature call here...
Unfortunately it was closed during this season...
We came to this visitor's office instead....
The cold weather made us answer nature calls every now and then... LOL...
The drive continued up and up....
Snowy on both parts of the road...
And we reached Bryce Canyon....
Hoodoos....
Unlike Grand Canyon, this one has its own formations....
I did not capture much pictures...
My friend has breathtaking ones... videos and all... LOL...
Thanks to our ever skillful driver....

We Walked On The Sea In Bonneville Salt Flats

ITS A LONG LONG JOURNEY.....  I thought Las Vegas was the longest drive I had ever taken in my own life... but no, Utah broke my record.  I could not keep count of the hours, too many... we reached Sacramento after more than 12 hours or was it 14??  Of course, we stopped many times along the way.... seniors like us need to rest our weary mind and straighten cramped legs every hour or so.  LOL...

I don't think we would be coming this way again for many years to come.... if there is an opportunity, I would love to come during winter, it would be a totally different scenario...

Before we exit the city, we had to stop at one of the attraction spot called Bonneville... Something very rare and spectacular cos it is filled with salt... Sea of Salt... Looks like snow in summer and walking on the sea of salt, I had to be very careful with my steps.  I only stayed near the banks but our Commander was very brave, he walked far far away from where we stood....
Have to be careful with our sneakers or slippers..
I wore slippers cos we need to walk off the salt...
Unless we need a new pair of shoes later on!
Here is what I extracted from Mr. G.
Wind and water combine to create the flat surface of salt. Each winter, a shallow layer of standing water floods the surface of the salt flats. During spring and summer, the water slowly evaporates while winds smooth the surface into a vast, nearly perfectly flat plain.
Looks like snow from here...
From where I stood...
Tourists are fascinated... like me..
Our Commander walking off to the middle... of nowhere...
*terrified me*

We feel safer at the banks....
Indeed much much safer... I could do all poses here....
Bye Utah!!
finally.....

Our Last Evening At Back 40 Ranch House, Heber City, Utah

LAST EVENING....

It was our last evening at the Marriots and we had our dinner at the Back 40 Ranch House....
Now looking back at my album, I couldn't find any of our dinner pictures inside...
Very strange!  Did I really not take any of the food pics?
Sounds unbelievable from me, right?
This adds to one of the peculiarities we experienced during our 7 days stay here...
I "might" relate in my post later on...
But then if I did, would I get sued??
Leaving that aside, here is the inside of the Ranch House...
The scenery from the window is so lovely....
Just like a painting!
After the dinner, we did some "exploration"....
We walked on the way in... yes, by foot...
Burn our calories, as I told them...
I can walk here each evening gazing into the meadows...
As we strolled along... this is what we saw....
Ranch life...
We made "friends" with the ponies....
Or at least he did....

The three wannabees... to feel young again!
That is all for this evening!
Back to the hotel to pack our bags.... for the long journey home the next morning!

A Visit To Utah Olympic Park

SKI TRAINING.... looking at the skiers skiing down from that height gives me the thrills!  Really have to admire their guts, not easy now that I see them for real.  Certainly an eye opener for me....
We came by to visit the US Olympic Training site for skiers....
Good place to visit especially those into skiing...

Skiers getting ready... up and up they went...
Now I spot one of them.... and took some videos....

Certainly one of the spotlight in Utah not to be missed....
A real sunny day for practice...  and to take pictures!

Painting The Town Red In Park City, Utah

PAINTING THE TOWN... just by wearing RED!  Made use of the free shuttle to go surveying Park City town.  See if there's anything to shop, I told the ladies.... LOL... Don't know it is good news or not, we did NOT buy anything at all after walking more than an hour.  The prices are too steep for us!  Definitely not our standard... LOL...

After an hour or so, we took the bus back to our hotel and had our homecooked lunch there.  In the evening, we went for the Glow Night.... yes, this time, not singing but dancing!!  We took a couple of videos... but no, I can't put those up.... I was like practically dancing like ... er... *I think I would embarrass my kids if they see their mom dancing like in the 70sssss!*
We were here...
Walking along the main street....
From one end to the other....
Did not buy anything... just window shopping...
Year of the Pig...
And bears....
Too expensive to haul all of them home...
At the junction.....
Climbed up to the first floor...
Taken from the bridge....
Yes, the sun was blazing...
Marking my presence as usual....
Desserts never fail to lure me in...
Ended up buying some chocolates and truffles...
And that was it.... painting the town red....
And we still had energy to do the Saturday Night Fever in the evening!
