Segari Beach and Teluk Batik Beach, Perak

BEACHES...  Cannot remember the last time I went to the beach in Perak itself... it must been many years ago.  And we were there again two months ago and for the first time, the two beaches we went to, were crowd-less, it was a rare sight.  Normally beaches are filled with people from one end to the other.  No tourists, no families were in sight except for us and a selective few.
Actually we wanted to visit this place....
Unfortunately it was under renovation....
So we could only stood outside and took some pictures to mark our presence...
LOL....
The beach was beautiful though....
Blue seas... clean... no rubbish...
Since it was so quiet, we left this place...
and adjourned to Teluk Batik, another beach resort....
which was supposedly to be popular and crowded too....
But it was not filled with people...
Only the few of us....
We almost have the whole place to ourselves...
I cannot remember the last time I came here...
Must be more than 10 or 20 years ago....
This is a good time to visit.... to drop by....
We took a lot of pictures of ourselves....
then we left for our lunch...
and back to Ipoh after shopping for some Sitiawan stuff....

A Coastal Drive to Sitiawan And Lumut

WHEN I SUGGESTED GOING TO LUMUT, three ladies were All for the short trip.  Oh, the trip took more than an hour actually, it was not a really short trip.  We started off from Ipoh around 11am, dropping my girl back to her Uni on the way before proceeding on to Lumut and Sitiawan.  We reached Kampong Koh in Sitiawan around 1pm, just nice for our lunch.  It has been many years since my sister last visited Sitiawan, some development could be seen here and there around the town.

First of all, the food... We just dropped by to one of the open air restaurants called Yeh Loi Heong, if I am not mistaken...
We had meehoon...
Sitiawan's famous Fish Mall soup...
Steamed clams....
Crispy fried fish called "Sar Chui" in Cantonese....
And our wide grins during the food attack....
After our heavy lunch, we proceeded to Lumut Jetty....

Beautiful blue skies ahead...
We shopped around there and bought some packets of Ikan Bilis among other stuff...
One must not leave Lumut without a bowl of Cendol from James...
Despite the heat, we must have a bowl each...
Fresh green cendol, red beans among the creamy santan and ice....
With the sweetness in our mouths, we left for Ipoh...
The coastal journey took an hour plus...
It was almost 7pm when we reached home......

Sight Seeing And Villa Seafood At Kampong Koh Sitiawan

WITH HEAVY TUMMIES, WE PROCEEDED to visit a landmark here in Kampong Koh, it is called Tua Pek Kong, just along the coastal area.  Using the Waze, we keyed in the name and it was just five minutes from where we had our lunch.  So easy and convenient.  One thing with Waze, I notice that it avoids traffic lights, somehow it goes through the small roads.... wonder why it operates this way...

Back to the tourist spot, we parked our car in front of Tua Pek Kong Temple and despite the hot weather, we sacrificed ourselves to take some photos....
The bay near we parked our car....
Very quiet on a weekday...
Should have brought a hat or umbrella...
So HOT!
Believe it or not...
I only wanted to point at this electrical station...
But the photo ended up like I was "carrying" it...
Not meant to look like SuperLady!
Just that it reminded me of the new Astro On Demand series...
Over Run Over...

Then we quickly walked to the shaded area....
....where we quenched ourselves with these fragrant coconuts...
After spending some minutes and buying some dried noodles, we proceeded for lunch!
Oh my goodness, I was still very full... but then...
We couldn't leave Sitiawan without having another meal, right?
We stopped at Villa Seafood, never tried it before....
We ordered some fried fish....

And a small portion of yellow noodles with clams....
Just two dishes and it came to RM38 with drinks....
With really super heavy tummies, we took a slow drive back to Ipoh....
Journey took one and half hours...
Along the way, we admire the greens...
Malaysia is actually a very nice place to stay...
if only....

Day Trip To Coastal Kg Koh Sitiawan

WE THOUGHT OF GOING TO CAMERON HIGHLANDS THE NEXT DAY.... but no, we changed our minds the next morning!  It is a bit too far and tiring to drive all the way up but it was not too far when we decided to go Sitiawan instead.... hahahaha...  The journey from Ipoh to Sitiawan took around one hour and a half to reach.  Not near too but at least it is not a long and winding road unlike Camerons.
It is more like a straight road... all the way to our destination...
Yes, we "consulted" Waze again,
We keyed in Pasar Awam Kg Koh...
Heard that their Kolo and Lor Mee is famous there...
But alas.... the stall was closed upon reaching...
Sigh.. kek si....

Instead we winded up here randomly...
Not sure what they offered but we saw something interesting...
Three big pots of "tongsui" *sweet desserts* and people crowding around...
Many types of kueh too....
Just got a few to try....
"Dissecting" the pulut sambal.....
This one is new to me... tastes good too!
Glutinous rice with peanuts, red dates and melon sugar...
Must be a Hock Chiew dessert!
Yes, this too... Peanuts tong sui...
Laksa in Kg Koh?
Yes, we certainly did order and ate this... sour enough!
And we had Kolo noodles...
Served with a few fried crispy beancurd skin and BBQ meat...
And the total cost for the meal plus drinks cost around RM15...
Well, that means RM5 for each of us!

Sitiawan Foodie

Time to go and buy some kompiah to take home to Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur. We were told to come here to get the best kompiah. (or is it pronounced as kompiang?)
There and then the workers were preparing kompiah... fresh from the oven..
Hot and Nice!
This is the place as told by the locals while we were having our tea in Yi See..
Very easy to locate too.. Just at the side of Wisma Ganda, the yellow coloured building...
Other stuff besides the kompiah...
This kompiah is different from the earlier post's ... white onions instead of darkened sauce..
Very crispy, crunchy and fragrant too!
It is RM1 per piece.... not so overpriced...
Next destination... James Cendol...
By then it was almost 4pm...
Time to close shop....
Bad news for us...
Only 101 bowl left!
Yes, One and only one....
Ice also "less" too...
And it cost RM2.50 per bowl...
Well... creamy no doubt....
That's our last stop for the trip...
Till we meet again, Sitiawan...
Perhaps another 2 more years later...

Souvenirs And Dumplings In Kampong Koh, Sitiawan

After our lunch, we went to "Tai Pak Kung San" ... my friend wanted to go there to look see look see... The blind seems to lead the blind... the four of us did not know the way, just follow the sign board and somehow after some turnings, we managed to find it... LOL...
Souvenir shop...
One of us started to buy a hat....
And eventually all of us bought the same thing!
Only RM12 each...
Shaded us against the hot sun at least....
hahahahaa..
And talking about souvenirs, wonder if they have edwin jagger here...
I was impressed by Jackie Chan caricature here...
I wonder why they used his image for toilet sign...
Anyone can give me a good reason? :)
My first time wearing this tee... and probably the last...
hahahahaa....
Bought it in US last time and never wore it before till now...
Any more teasing, I will chuck it back into the cupboard....
Next... we went to this shop called Yee Si....
Heard this shop is famous for its dumplings...
Open at 3.30pm, we were told....
Many fresh dumplings to choose from.....
We tried a few types only cos we were very full then...
There and then they cut up the dumplings to serve the patrons...
I like the peanuts pau best.... bought a few home....
We were told this is Hockchew Pau....
Layers of peanuts...
Only 90 sen each....
Yee Si is very easy to locate...
Just next to the Maybank at Kampong Koh.
