Shopping At St Enoch, Glasgow

SHOPPING!!

The last time I visited Glasgow was in 2015 and it was not an ordinary trip, in fact, I made "headlines" when I came to this trip on two wheels!  That was a very extraordinary trip which will never be forgotten by many, especially me!  LOL.... I dug back my old blog posts and there I was... wheeling through Europe!
Taken in October, 2015
And now taken in November 2018...
At the same area three years later....
Yay!!!
Thank God for His Blessings that I could come here again, without the wheels!!

Back to my present post, this place St Enoch is not to be missed.  From our Jury Inn Hotel, it was just a few minutes walk to this Glasgow Institution whereby it is now a home to many big brands including the biggest names in High Street fashion.
There I am... at Cath Kidston...
There was a sale going on...
I sent some messages to my friends...
And got what they needed me to buy!

I could not remember how long we had walked, definitely more than two hours, going in and out of the malls, ending up buying a knee guard and some supplements for my poor bones!  Yes, my knee was still hurting from the twist I got from the badminton game, but it was a small problem compared to the fracture I had in 2015!  LOL...
And on and on we walked... and walked...
And of course, taking pictures as we strolled along the cold weather...
The whole area was bustling with people from all ages... it was a weekend, after all...
Soon it was time for us to leave the city....
Driving through the city to the highway....
Back to Aberdeen... home sweet home....

Our One Night Stay At Jury Inn Hotel, Glasgow

ONE NIGHT IN GLASGOW...

We checked in to Jury Inn hotel in the evening after dropping Gab at the train station.  This is our first night stay in Glasgow and Aaron booked the hotel through an online website which was giving a discount for this triple room at around 114 pounds.  Initially we thought that Gab would be staying one night with us and since the double room was giving the same rate, why not choose the triple?  LOL... *kiasu*

Parking is another issue here, unlike back home, hotels normally provide parking lots for guests.  Over here, we have to look for our own parking space and it would be a blessing if we could get one opposite the hotel and with discount some more.  Normally the rates can be high as 25 pounds per day, as for ours, we paid 7 pounds after getting a discount from the hotel, that is indeed very cheap already!

It was freezing cold in Glasgow, only 4 degrees from our handphone info.  We wanted something hot and soupy for dinner and we entered one Japanese restaurant without hesitation.  Well, do not have high expectations when eating Asian food in these type of places, we eat just to overcome our cravings for something hot.
From the hotel room during the day...
Our spacious bed for the night stay....
Comfy and nice...
At the Japanese restaurant which was quite crowded...
My bowl of Chicken Ramen soup...
Forgot to tell them to omit the bamboo shoots..
Really cannot tolerate the strong pungent smell...
Quickly, I gulped them up before they spoil the broth as well...
My son ordered spicy soup...
But of course, it was not spicy at all...
We are Asians ma... LOL...
Our morning breakfast at the hotel...
And my dinner and breakfast expressions!

The Picturesque At Loch Lomond

ROUND THE LOCH....

Loch means lakes and Scotland is full of lakes, here and there... and we spent a few hours driving round the Loch Lomond and its beautiful surrounding.... and the song goes back to the old Convent days...

By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes
Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond
Where me and my true love spent many happy days
On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond

T'was there that we parted in yon shady glen
On the steep sides of Ben Lomond
Where in purple hue the Highland hills we view
And the moon glints out in the gloaming

[Chorus]
You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road
And I'll be in Scotland afore ye
Where me and my true love will never meet again
On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond

Shorter days now and by 4pm, it grows dark each day.
Lots of beautiful memories....
On a short day...

Wheeling Along St Enoch In Glasgow

FROM THE KELPIES, AARON DROVE ON ANOTHER TWO HOURS TO GLASGOW... We have not been here before and Aaron did some homework beforehand and we landed here ar St. Enoch which is a more happening place.... It reminded me of Rundell Mall in Adelaide where there is a pedestrian walk along some streets....
People Make Glasgow....
Waited outside Nando for it was crowded... Were told to wait 25 minutes....
To pass time, I was like a kid again... Sitting obediently and smile....

We walked somewhere nearby.....
The autumn trees just outside Nando...
My helpful"nanny" as I called her.... Faithfully pushing me around....
Stopped at Apple... Thought of getting the 7 series.. Hahhaaa...
How I was yearning to walk and walk.... Never had I sat so much before....
How much can one pose on a wheelchair? Or should I ask...how often one gets to be wheeled....
I really understand how it feels...
So I ended up taking more and more pictures...
We ended our walk here right in front of Hard Rock In Glasgow....
One to remember....
Yes, ended up getting a souvenir from there too...
No, it's not mine cos it cost 20 pounds, no joke!!

Wheeling Around The Kelpies At Falfirk

WE STARTED OFF OUR DAY TRIP TO GLASGOW AROUND 10am this morning... On the way, we diverted to Filfuk to visit one tourist spot called the Helix Park and The Kelpies.  With the help of GPS, Aaron managed to get us to the park without any hassle.... My only hassle is to get in and out of the car and hopping into the wheelchair..after much practice, hopping is my daily workout now....

In an monumental feat of engineering, The Kelpies rose from the ground in just 90 days, in late 2013. Construction of The Kelpies began on 17th  June 2013. The two enormous structures were manufactured and installed by SH Structures Limited. In a remarkable feat of engineering, the sculptures rose out of the ground in a stunning construction process, captured in all its glory by Walid Salhab in his dramatic time-lapse stop-motion film.  The build was officially completed on 27th November 2013, and was celebrated with a 'topping-out' ceremony featuring Duke and Baron, the Clydesdale life models for The Kelpies.

And so here I am.... Rolling along....
With Aaron...
My friend... Counting her pennies for our ice cream...
Despite the cold weather.....
Each of us had an ice cream in our hands....
Slurppppp.... Very creamy ones!
Yes, that is my fracured ankle....
The amazing canals....
With one of the Kelpies...
Wheeling around with a new twist....
Very grateful to my patient friend....
Both Aaron and my friend take turns to wheel me around....
Kids always find me fascinating..
The first they looked at was my legs....
Cos I have one leg with a brown boot and one with a pink sock....
Well...able or disabled, one must not give up easily...
Though there may some inconveniences, they can be overcome...
Let us cross the hurdles one step at a time, no matter how tough it is....
In life, nothing is smooth sailing...
Where there are difficulties, they strengthen us....
Give Thanks in all circumstances and we will sail through....
