Our Foodie Outing To Gopeng And Batu Gajah

BACK WITH MY FOODIE FRIENDS after disappearing from Ipoh for so many days!  LOL...

Wasting no time, we went out for a few meals to catch up with one another... started in the morning to Gopeng town for their signature noodles called "Lai Fun" with varieties of fish paste, fried or steamed.  No pictures were taken, I wonder why now, perhaps too hungry then or busy chatting with one another.  After our breakfast, we went to search for the durian fella... he has shifted from the Big Tree (where he put his durians for sale last time) to another street in town.  He told us that the Tree was "cruelly decapitated" (I must have been watching too many gory movies to use that word) for no reason....

Back to my post, from the durian feast, we adjourned to Batu Gajah, wanting to see the new premium outlet but it was not ready as yet.  From there, we passed by Batu Gajah town and went down to take some murals, I guess my friend Nancy will show more of the murals in her post some time later...

And after that, we went home.... and met up later in the evening for dinner at WSF 33 food court.  I forgot what WSF stands for.... my friend should know... LOL....

Yes, we just stood at the stall there to eat....
That is what durian lovers do.... LOL...
Not shy or embarrassed in any way....
And normally we get the best fruits this way!
In Batu Gajah town....
And me basking under the hot sun!!
As for our dinner....
Steamed fish with gravy.....
Steamed clams....
Curry Pork Ribs....
And blanched spinach....
I love the dishes in this food court...
Reasonable prices and not so oily...
Couldn't remember exactly how much...
Maybe around RM80 plus...

A Short Sight Seeing Trip To Kellie's Castle, Batu Gajah

A DAY TRIP...

An intensive weekend with the youngsters, we tried to cover as much places as we possibly could, that is sightseeing and the most important itinerary is the Food.

We set out to Kellie's Castle after taking our breakfast in Ipoh.  Could not remember what we had for I did not take any pictures of the food in the morning for we intended to go for seafood in Tanjung Tualang for lunch.  But first... Kellie's Castle in Batu Gajah.  Entrance fees is RM5 and it was a very quiet noon when we reached.  Maybe it was due to the hot sun or perhaps tourists are more interested in Ipoh food than sightseeing here....
The first Scottish to build the castle here in the 1890s...
But it was unfinished.... half way through, The owner died of pneumonia in Lisbon..
And the castle was abandoned since...

The authorities maintained the structure until today...
Overlooking a small creek...
From the top of the castle without railings... one has to be careful...
Quite scary to look down without any railings and grills...
We spent a short while here and we moved on....
To Tanjung Tualang...

Break Of Dawn In Batu Gajah

WOKE UP AT 7.15am THIS MORNING... TIME TO GET READY FOR MY THIRD TREATMENT IN BATU GAJAH.....

When we reached the place, it was only 8.40am but then our number was already 32!  My goodness, that means the others before us must have been waiting there even before it is opened for business at 8.30am.  More "laku" than doctors or specialists, I could say.... I feel more confident somehow...

Since our numbers were 32 and 33 respectively, we decided to go for breakfast for the attending number at that current time was only #4.  And so we went for our first meal in Batu Gajah town which we were not so familiar with.  After a few turnings and look-outs, we managed to find one shop which looked kind of appealing...

So appealing that the shop's name was not recognizable... hahahaaa...
Nevertheless we went in since we were so welcomed
the moment we stepped right out of the car...
The vendor was very friendly, introducing us his authentic food...
His *40 years* of pork ribs cooking.... a long way back....
He recommended us to try.....
I tried his crispy roasted pork.... *siew yuk*
True enough... they tasted simply fabulous!
Every bite brought some crunchy sound... yumsssss!
Some crunchy wantons are not to be missed too...
A giant dumpling for RM2.80
My friend commented it was tasty too!
And some sweeties to go with the savoury.... as usual....
My friends seemed to be very pleased this morning....
hehehehee....
Who wouldn't be when it comes to FOOD!!
After our heavy breakfast, it was time to go for my treatment....
An hour later we made our way home... back to where we belong....
Oh by the way.... I am very happy today!!
I was given the green light to take small steps...
However tinnie winnie steps they are,
I am all ready to learn walking again.... slowly and steadily....

Lunch For Three At Pusing Town

AFTER MY WRAPPED TREATMENT, IT WAS TIME TO GO FOR OUR LUNCH.. On the way from Batu Gajah, we stopped at a small town called Pusing. Along the main road, the popular shop where tourists normally go is the Ming Foong but we did not go there this time, we settled for some simple food at a corner open space concept just a few shops away.
There were a number of different stalls but most of them were already closed by lunch....
Only the rice section was available and we chose a few dishes for our meal....
Me and you and a walker named Boo....
Papaya juice to cool us down...
Stinky beans aka petai sauteed with minced pork...
Bitter gourd with eggs....
And fish slices with ginger and spring onions....
Three dishes plus rice for the three of us came to RM45....
Yes, we took some appetizer before the main dishes arrived!!
Yes, this is the One...
Our tummies were fully stuffed...
Indeed a very heavy lunch!!
*Writing this reminds me, I must do more exercise*

New Year Treatment

STARTED OFF NEW YEAR WITH A SHORT DRIVE TO BATU GAJAH..... Yes, my friends fetched me to seek treatment from a chinese sinseh who is quite well known in Batu Gajah.  When we reached there around noon, we were amazed by the crowd.  It reminded us of a One Malaysia concept...the place was filled with multi- racial patients, all who have different kinds of bone injury.

My number was 86...another ten more patients to go before me.  There were five wooden chairs in front of the sinseh and he seems to be very "expert" ... For thise who brought along X-rays, he will take a look at it and for those who didn't bring, he just have to touch and he knows what to do with it... Like my case, I told him I was in cast for more than two months now.... And he told me to stand up.... I couldn't put my two legs level on the gorund... One is definitely shorter than the other... Oh oh.... Then he taught me how to do some exercise so that is back leveled...

Well, I am not sure whether it is effective but I certainly feel better and lighter with the work-out with a towel..... I have confidence in him then... Hopefully I can be a dancing queen again in no time... Hahhaaaa......

From Hospital Fatima To Batu Gajah

ALARM RANG AT 7.30AM.... and I was all ready to go out an hour later... not to anywhere to enjoy but to the hospital.  My appointment with my bone specialist for the third time...

By Now I know my procedure very well, after registering with the clinic,
I was wheeled to the basement to do the X-ray... this normally takes an hour....

While waiting for the report, I admired my "naked" leg...
It has slimmed down a lot... cos it was not in "use"....
By noon I was "done"....
I went home and out again within an hour.....
My friend came to fetch me and we went for a drive to Batu Gajah.....
I was so indebted to my friend....
She knows I need some distraction....
And we went to a few places...
Tanning my leg as usual...
Actually I was advised  by doctor to put up my leg all the time...
And to exercise it whenever possible......
This is how it looks like after being wrapped up....
I cannot step on it ... as yet...
But soon I will be able to...... sooooooon!
On the way back from our drive, we stopped in Menglembu...
I was yearning a piece of that...
but my friend ended buying up so many...
Not so healthy but then... just today...
And I drank a whole coconut after one piece....
Justified!
Thank you, friend.... for taking me for a good intention drive..
I really Need that...
